Chen-style Taijiquan (Tai Chi) is widely acknowledged as the ancestor of all other styles of Taijiquan. This class will introduce the Chen-style Taijiquan form, Silk-reeling Exercises and Wuji Qigong. The Chen-style Taijiquan form is soft and graceful with strong rooted stands that will help students to develop strength, balance, coordination and an understanding of basic Taiji principles. Silk-reeling Exercises are a series of spiral movements that promote muscle relaxation and flexibility by reducing physical tension and strain. Wuji Qigong (standing meditation) will help students to cultivate internal energy (qi) with proper body alignment for better internal energy flow, which will enhance their immune systems and reduce physical and mental stress.

Learn what goes on in our Makerspace! Join our open house, where we'll have an assortment of drop-in activities and programs, including 3D printing, sewing, and appliance repair help. Come learn everything about 3D printing! We will demonstrate live how a 3D printer works. Time permitting, we will get hands-on with the printer. Want to learn about sewing? Sign up for our sewing tutoring 1:1! If you have an old appliance that no longer works, bring it on down! You will actively be engaged in repairing your item with support from staff and volunteers.

Gem Painting is taking the crafting world by storm. It’s the perfect mixture of paint-by-numbers and mosaic art, without the paint! Instead, tiny gems make a beautiful pattern and sparkle in the light. Gem Painting is a recurring series that invites creative makers to gather together in the same place on a regular basis. If you are interested in participating, be sure to register for the series, attend the first date, and then drop in on the dates that work for your schedule so you can work on your masterpiece. Participants are not required to attend every session, but we will only be accepting new participants on a monthly basis. As this project aims to gather creative makers in the community, each participant's gem painting materials will be labeled and held at the library until the month is complete. Check the schedule below for when we will provide canvases to new participants and when we will only allow pre-existing participants to drop in.
