"Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) is a complex, chronic biological illness that causes extreme, debilitating fatigue lasting at least six months. It is not improved by rest and is characterized by a severe worsening of symptoms after minor physical or mental exertion, a phenomenon known as Post-Exertional Malaise:--- CDC Unrest - The Documentary When Harvard PhD student Jennifer Brea is struck down at 28 by a fever that leaves her bedridden, doctors tell her it's "all in her head." Determined to live, she turns her camera on herself and her community, a hidden world of millions confined to their homes and bedrooms by ME, commonly called chronic fatigue syndrome. The documentary was produced over a four-year period, in which Brea was mostly bedbound. It reveals Brea's route to diagnosis and the world of other people homebound with the illness. Unrest was shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature Film , and won several film festival awards, including the jury award for editing at the Sundance Film Festival . - IMBD Facilitator: Rebecca Groble has lived in Evanston for 33 years with her husband, David Hull and their son, Gabe (ETHS 2017).
