Ocean Township Branch, Ocean Township Branch
This month, we’re exploring Edna Ferber’s sharp and compelling 1915 short story “Representing T.A. Buck”, from the collection Roast Beef, Medium.
What does strength look like when you’re constantly underestimated? Where do resilience and independence begin? Meet Emma McChesney—a traveling saleswoman determined to succeed in a world that doesn’t expect—or easily accept—her ambition. As she navigates skepticism, pressure, and quiet resistance, Emma keeps moving forward with grit and self-assurance.
Join us for a thoughtful discussion of a story that still feels strikingly relevant today.
A link to the short story will be sent via email upon registration.
