Every now and then, libraries need a little extra love from the communities they serve. Volunteer away your library fines at a rate of $20 per hour while helping the library maintain a clean and welcoming environment. Ever wondered what the human body would be like if we had no bones, or how many colors our eyes see? Are you curious to learn the basics of human anatomy and the wonders our body can do? Join us for a fun, hands-on activity for the next 4 days, focusing on a different human body system every day! Recommended for elementary school children who will be incoming 1st-6th graders in the Fall. Free. Registration is recommended for each session you want to attend . Priority will be given to registrants, followed by walk-ins if there is space. Limited to 25 children per session. Day 1 - Skeletal system (July 13) Kids will learn about different types of bones and fun facts about our skeletal system through a fun interactive presentation followed by doing a skeleton relay race with bones they have learnt about. Day 2 - Nervous system (July 14) Learn about how the nervous system works by transmitting signals and will conclude with a short quiz and fun activities to learn about how we react to different stimulations. Day 3 - Eyes (July 15) Dive deep into how eyes work and end the session with a fun interactive way to check vision and color blindness. Day 4 - Lungs (July 16) Learn the basics of how we are able to breathe and conclude by doing a hands-on activity of building a fun take home lung model. Free. Registration required.
