Teens 13-18 are invited by La Raíz Magazine to explore poetry. Local poet  Héctor F. Castañeda  will guide students to write poetry by sharing poetry samples, a prompt, and a starter phrase or verse to encourage participants to write independently, providing prompts support in English and Spanish.  Participants can optionally share their poetry during the session. They will be invited to have their poetry considered for publication in La Raíz Magazine, with permission from a parent or guardian. This program is presented in partnership with  La Raíz Magazine . Learning to read is hard, and practicing reading out loud can be a challenge.  Kids can come practice reading out loud to dogs.  Reading to dogs can help reduce the stress of practicing reading.  Children are encouraged to come to the library early to pick their book before the program begins. Which team will get their Human Robot through the maze first?   Two groups of 5 will compete to move through the maze using coding commands.  Each team will nominate a teammate to act as a human robot, and their teammates will guide them through the maze using verbal commands based on coding commands.  This is a no computer, no electronics, completely unplugged activity that teaches foundational coding concepts and computational thinking. Learn the fundamentals of 3D printing and see a 3D printer in action. We will guide you through the types and components of 3D printers and introduce you to design tools like Tinkercad and Creality Print.
