Andrés and Christina are the Grammy and Latin Grammy-winning music duo 123 Andrés, and their lively bilingual programs get the whole family dancing and learning in Spanish and English. They tour nationally and offer programs for early childhood through elementary grades. Performing as a duo for more than a decade, Andrés and Christina combine storytelling, humor and music into an interactive show for all ages, always fresh and adapted — sometimes on the spot — for each community. If available, they use a projector to add colorful visuals to enhance the experience. Tin Punch Lanterns – LED Edition: Celebrate 250 Years of American Making with Metal, Light and Creativity

Lenexa City Center Library, 8778 Penrose Lane, Lenexa, KS 66219
Celebrate 250 years of American history with a STEAM project inspired by punched tin lanterns, a common light source in early America. In this workshop, kids will design and build their own lantern using simple tools, pattern-making and basic circuitry. Participants will punch designs into aluminum foil panes, build a cardboard frame and connect an LED to a coin-cell battery to light it up. Each participant leaves with a lantern they can take home and display. To ensure everyone has the chance to participate, we kindly ask that you reserve only one session of this workshop. This helps us keep spots open for others who are eager to join! Note: This event was originally published in the Summer 2026 Guide as one two-hour event. This event has been split into two one-hour sessions to give attendees the best experience. The 3-4 p.m. session of this workshop can be found here: Tin Punch Lanterns – LED Edition: Celebrate 250 Years of American Making with Metal, Light and Creativity

The Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) program enhances children’s reading and communication skills through a unique approach: reading to a registered therapy dog or cat. These animals volunteer alongside their owner/handlers as a team. Get a ticket when you arrive and wait your turn to read to one of several animals.
