You're invited to join Ms. Elizabeth from ECFE for a baby storytime at the Cambridge Public Library. This program is recommended for ages birth to 23 months. We will be meeting in the Discovery Center at 9:30am each Thursday. Each storytime will include reading, singing, and playing. No registration necessary. This event is sponsored by ECFE and East Central Regional Library. This storytime series will be held on Thursdays, June 4 - August 13. There will be no storytime on July 2nd. In celebration of our Summer Discovery Program theme: UNEARTH A STORY... Join us at the Cambridge Library as we dig up squirmy soil stories with a naturalist from Minnesota State Parks. Ranger Sean will help us dive into tiny worlds of creatures that live under our feet. We’ll dig through real soil and moss, and project what we find onto a screen with a special microscope. We’ll even have a chance to sing a guitar song about dirt! Best for ages 3-11, but all ages welcome! No registration needed! The event is made possible in partnership with the MN DNR and The Cambridge Library.

Local Authors Visit: Dean Hovey and D.L. Dixen

Join us at the Cambridge Library as we welcome Minnesota authors, Dean Hovey and D.L. Dixen! They will be discussing their new book in the Pine County Mysteries series - Woke Up Dead. Dean Hovey is an award-winning mystery author. His books include three series: “Pine County Mysteries,” “Whistling Pines Cozy Mysteries,” and “Doug Fletcher Park Ranger Mysteries.” Hovey’s Family Trees won the 2018 Northeastern Minnesota Book Award for best fiction. D.L. Dixen makes her home on a small hobby farm with her family, ponies, and basset hound, not far from the Pine County, Minnesota border. Her professional background ranges from the criminal justice system to secondary English education. Her professional experience, coupled with her deep familial Pine County roots, makes for good fiction in the Pine County mystery series. We will be meeting in the Great Northern Room on the lower level of the library. Light refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Cambridge Library. No registration necessary.

Soil Characterization with the Isanti Soil and Water Conservation District!

In celebration of our Summer Discovery Program theme: UNEARTH A STORY... Join us at the Cambridge Library as the Isanti Soil and Water Conservation District presents... Soil Characterization! Learn about physical properties of soil (texture, color, structure, consistence, infiltration) and the different ways in which humans depend on and use soil. You will collect a small sample of soil and complete several tests to identify and describe the physical properties found in the sample. For grades 3-8. Registration preferred, but not required. Program will be outdoors. In case of bad weather, we will move to the Great Northern Room.
