The Tang Teaching Museum Presents: Spectacular Statum; The Art of Layering

The Tang Museum presents Spectacular Stratum. This project is inspired by the artwork of Joan Snyder, a mixed media painter influenced by the world around her and Paul Lewing, a landscape painter. For the program, participants will be able to create their own sand art landscapes using glass jars and colorful sand, or mixed media clay collages using beans, seeds, and beads. This self-paced, unstructured building-enthusiast meet-up fosters creativity, fine motor skills and socialization as we share and build together. Engaging with blocks supports early childhood development by enhancing mathematical thinking (shapes, sorting), enhancing fine motor control, encouraging spatial reasoning, and developing emotional skills through creative expression. We'll offer diverse building materials for all ages, allowing children to play, learn, share and create freely twice a week at the library. No registration necessary-- just drop in!
