Teens: The library is offering a unique program this summer for ages 12-15. Here is your chance to get out of the house two afternoons a week, in real life. We'll do some library projects like shelving, cleaning, or making displays and shelf talkers. We'll also do community projects in the library like making cat toys for the animal shelter or decorations for nursing homes. We will help prepare for our July literacy fair by creating games for kids. You may help plan other programs, make flyers, and more. Participants will have input on how the program develops. Rising 6th, 7th, & 8th graders: Help your community, build up job experience and references for when you apply for your first job, hang out with other people your age, have something to say when adults ask you what you're doing this summer, maybe even make a friend. Registration is required by June 16th. Regular attendance is expected. Ages: 6-8th grade. Starts Tuesday, June 30th at 1pm. Help to care for our library garden! You even get to take home what we harvest. We’ll meet at the community garden at Eisenhower School, 1601 Markley St. Ages 5-12. Registration is required. We'll play games, sing songs, and listen to stories before you leave your friend overnight. Wear your favorite pajamas! Did you build your own dinosaur at the start of Summer Reading? That would be the perfect pal to attend this program! Join us the next morning for the Stuffie Pancake Breakfast! Make pancakes and learn about your friend's nighttime adventures before taking them home. Registration closes 2 hours before the start of the event. If registration is full, please join the waitlist. Yes, it's a free yoga class at the library for adults! Led by certified yoga instructor, Haley Z., this bi-weekly class is geared for beginners. Take a step toward wellness by attending regularly or dropping in when you can. Due to high demand registration is now required for this event. Bring a mat or towel if you have one. We also have mats. No experience is necessary. Give it a try. NOTE: THIS SESSION IS AT 9am NOT 10am TO ACCOMMODATE OUR SUMMER CHILDREN'S PROGRAMMING SCHEDULE. Cookbook Club continues in the new year! We meet at 5:30 on the second Monday of each month in the community room. All are welcome to prepare a recipe from the month's chosen cookbook and bring it to share. We dine together and discuss the book, the recipes, and cooking techniques. Bring your own plate, silverware, and drink. (We will have disposables available if you forget.) No registration necessary, but you must bring a dish to participate. The current month's cookbook is always put on display near the front desk. You may make free copies of recipes you want to make in the computer lab.
