Tommy Terrific presents A Magical Dinosaur Dig! This interactive magic show features a giant magic trunk filled with dinosaur fossils and exploration tools. With the help of the Magician’s Handbook, kids guide Tommy on a magical adventure where the world of dinosaurs comes alive in wacky and unexpected ways. From the T. rex to the Triceratops and beyond, young audiences will uncover fun facts about dinosaurs and the age in which they lived.

Families with children ages 4-7 are welcome to sign up for our 5 session Family ESL series. Parents can learn new vocabulary and practice their English pronunciation by reading picture books to their children for an hour. This program will start Saturday, June 27th at 1pm. Registration is required and by registering you are signing up for the whole series. Las familias con niños de entre 4 y 7 años pueden inscribirse en nuestro programa de inglés como segunda lengua (ESL) para familias, compuesto por 5 sesiones. Los padres pueden aprender nuevo vocabulario y practicar su pronunciación en inglés leyendo libros ilustrados a sus hijos durante una hora. Este programa comenzará el sábado 27 de junio a la 1 p. m. Down to Earth: Clay Crafts is a fun, hands-on session with air dry clay. The program is for teens and adults, and occurs twice in June and July during the Summer Reading Program. Join us and shape your creativity! Registration is required to participate, and supplies are limited.

Do you need help learning the basics of a computer, your tablet, or your phone? Get one-on-one personalized sessions here! Registration is required. Sign up at the desk or call 832-927-5470 to reserve your spot and let us know what you want to learn. Please note: This is not a class. This is a 60 min. program where a staff member will try to help you figure out what you want to learn. Basic Tech Help is limited to computer, tablet, smartphone, internet, app navigation, and security basics. For more advanced help, you will be referred elsewhere. If you no one arrives by 12:15, the appointment will be cancelled.

For this month's Library Movie Nights, we are inviting families to join us to watch either Jurassic Park or Jurassic World . This fits the Summer Reading Program theme: Unearth a Story . Attendees will vote on one of the films, and we will watch the winning movie together.  Popcorn and beverages will be provided, but feel free to bring their own snacks. This FREE Art Camp is a program in partnership with the Museum of Fine Arts Houston (MFAH) that has been available at HCPL branches since Summer 2000. This program is made available to us for free, thanks to grants that the MFAH receives. With this program six library branches per year take advantage of week-long summer art camp in which teachers from the prestigious MFAH Glassell school for the Arts come in to teach kids ages 7-12 art classes (10am – 12pm) for four days in the selected week (Mon-Thurs) culminating in a free field trip on Friday (bus provided) to the museum! *Space is limited. Registration for this program is first-come first-serve.
