Teen STEAM: Sumerian Cylinder Seal Pendants
Source
Hull Street Meeting Room
Step back into ancient Mesopotamia and design your own Sumerian-inspired cylinder seal pendant! In ancient Sumer, cylinder seals were small carved stones used like signatures by rolling them across wet clay to leave a unique imprint that told a story about identity, status, or belief.
In this hands-on workshop, participants will sculpt their own personalized cylinder seals using Sculpey clay, carving symbols or imagery that represent who they are before rolling their seals into fresh clay to transfer their design and create a wearable pendant.
Teen STEAM allows teens to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics by working on hands-on projects that help them develop critical thinking skills, hone their creativity, practice working independently and collaboratively, as well as perform problem-solving through engaging projects.
