Join us for two brief presentations by local authors Patti Procopi and Ruthann E Gray Grabowski who have written books set during the colonial and Revolutionary War periods. They’ll talk a bit about their work, what drew them to this point in history, and what it’s like writing stories set in early America.
There will be time for questions, conversation, and a chance to meet the authors and check out their books. If you enjoy historical fiction, children's books, or are just curious about local writing, you'll want to attend this program!
Bios
Patti Gaustad Procopi is a former army brat who lived all over the world before settling in Gloucester, Virginia. There, she and her husband Greg raised three daughters and numerous cats and dogs. Patti worked at two area history museums for thirty-two years. After retiring she finally had the time to do the thing she always wanted to do – write! Patti’s writing is about emotional connections, friendship and family. She has written four novels for adults: Please…Tell Me More (2020), I’ll Get By (2022), Stop Talking (2023), and The Murderer You Know: A Podcast Mystery (2025). "Letters from Yorktown" is her first foray into middle-grade fiction. Visit her website, pattiproauthor.com.
Ruthann E Gray Grabowski is a Virginia native and Yorktown resident since 1992. She and her husband, Justin, raised two sons in Yorktown, and began volunteering at the former Yorktown Victory Center, now the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown in 1990. They currently volunteer with their two granddaughters at the museum farm site. Her book, “Growing Up on a Revolution Era Farm” describes with photos their volunteer experiences.
