Family Yoga at the Family First Community Center 16200 116th Ave SE, Renton, WA 98058  Tuesdays, July 7, 14, 21 & 28, 11am Ages 4 and older with adult. Presented by Xiomara Melgar, a 200-Hour Certified Yoga Teacher from Three Trees Yoga and Certified Kids Yoga Teacher from Seattle Kids Yoga.  Xiomara is able to provide instruction in both English and Spanish. Family Yoga is a fun, welcoming space for children and caregivers to move, breathe, and relax together. Enjoy playful stretches, partner poses, gentle movement, breathing exercises, and plenty of silliness and laughter. Children can participate however feels right and caregivers are invited to join in without worrying about “perfect” poses. No yoga experience is needed, dress in comfortable clothes. Come to the Fairwood Library each Tuesday in July for a fun trading event:   1. Bring a trinket from home and trade it for a different trinket at the library. 2.  One trade per person at each event. 3.  Item from home no bigger than 3"x3". 4.  Suggestions for items to bring to trade:  stickers,  keychains, figures, magnets, bracelets, small stuffed animals, handmade crafts. 5.  NO   food, glass, broken pieces, hazardous materials.

Exploring History and Nature in the City - An Author Visit with David B. Williams

Author, naturalist and tour guide David B. Williams will speak about two of his most recent books: Seattle Walks and Wild in Seattle . David will discuss how urban dwellers can get to know their city better by getting outside, walking, observing, and paying attention. He’ll share some of his adventures including birding at 60 mph, the pleasures and discoveries to be made by going back to the same location repeatedly, and how to date a 1100-year-old earthquake. This talk will appeal to newcomers and long-time residents alike, giving everyone new ways to appreciate Seattle. David B. Williams is the author of the award-winning books  Homewaters: A Human and Natural History of Puget Sound and Too High and Too Steep: Reshaping Seattle’s Topography, as well as  Spirit Whales and Sloth Tales: Fossils of Washington State.   Please register for email reminders.
