Storytime is designed to accommodate a mix of ages and invites the entire family to participate in early literacy activities such as stories, songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and movement activities. Storytime is a fun and interactive experience for the whole family that promotes the joys of reading and learning for all ages. This program is geared for children of all ages and their parents/caregivers! Free, with limited capacity. Seating for Storytime is available on a first-come, first-served basis. A limited number of tickets will be distributed at the Information Desk when the Library opens.   A second Storytime will be provided at 11:30 a.m., if necessary.  This storytime is also first-come, first-served. Experience the soothing calm of yoga and meditation, as presented  by our partner, The Heartfulness Institute each Saturday.  Yoga is taught by certified instructors and meditation is taught by a Heartfulness certified instructor.  Yoga may be either chair or regular yoga. The program structure is 75 minutes as described below: 5 min Meet & greet 35 min Yoga and Pranayama (different styles like hatha or arkaya yoga) 5 min posture change break 25 min Heartfulness Relaxation & Meditation (experience, hands-on) This program is geared to enrich the lives of adults and seniors. Summer is here and it’s time for wonderful bike rides. The Cambrian Library will be holding a bike repair and donation event with Community Cycles- a non profit bike shop. We’ll be at the Cambrian Library on July 12 from 2 to 4 pm to do safety checks and minor repairs for your bike so you can ride safely. If you have an unused bike you no longer want, please consider bringing it to event and donating it to support community programs. Community Cycles refurbishes donated bikes for sale in our retail shop on Race Street. This funds the nonprofit programs and gives trainees hands-on experience in bike repair, and sales. Others are given directly to unhoused and low-income community members who rely on bikes to get to work, school, medical appointments, or public transit — helping bridge the “first and last mile” of daily transportation. Reading Buddies provides students in grades K-3 with an opportunity to improve their reading skills by working one-on-one with a volunteer from Cambrian Branch Library's Teens Reach. Reading Buddies creates a positive reading experience for beginning and developing readers and helps children build confidence as readers. Our volunteers will listen to children read and provide support in phonics, sight words, and comprehension. Students can bring their favorite book or choose from the available selection at the Cambrian Branch Library. Free. Pre-registration not required. However, reading sessions are available on a first come, first served basis and the duration of reading sessions may be limited depending on the number of volunteers and/or participating students.
