By the end of the week, they’ll put everything into action in a fun live tournament, where the strongest speakers are celebrated and the best voices take home prizes. Reading Buddies

Reading Buddies provides students in grades K-3 with an opportunity to improve their reading skills by working one-on-one with a reading coach. Reading Buddies creates a positive reading experience for beginning and developing readers and helps children build confidence as readers. Our reading coach will listen to children read and provide support in phonics, sight words, and comprehension. Students can bring their favorite book or choose from the available selection at the Village Square Branch Library to read aloud to their reading coach. Walk-ins are welcome! However, reading sessions are available on a first come, first served basis and the duration of reading sessions may be limited depending on the number of participating students. Participants will get a free pencil or a snack and a sticker while supplies last. Note: No session on 3rd Thursday of the month. ADA Accommodation Requests

The ElectricalLab is holding a hands-on learning workshops designed for students in grades 4th–8th who are interested in electrical engineering. The participants will learn through interactive lessons, fun experiments, and will explore how electricity works. They will build simple circuits, and discover how electrical engineering powers the technology we use every day. Each session encourages creativity, problem-solving, and curiosity while making STEAM learning engaging and accessible for all skill levels. Supplies will be provided. July 11-- Simple Robot Car: Students will build a simple robot car using a motor and battery while learning how electrical energy is converted into motion and how circuits help control movement. July 18--Homemade Battery Circuit: Students will make a simple battery from everyday materials and use it to light up an LED while learning how electricity flows through a circuit and powers the devices we use every day. July 25--DIY Paper Circuits: Students will design and decorate a light-up greeting card using LEDs, batteries, and simple circuits while learning how electricity flows to power electronic devices. Storytime is designed to accommodate a mix of ages and invites the entire family to participate in early literacy activities such as stories, songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and movement activities. Storytime is a fun and interactive experience for the whole family that promotes the joys of reading and learning for all ages. This program is geared for children of all ages and their parents/caregivers! After Storytime concludes, families are invited to Stay & Play! For 30 minutes after storytime, special, age-appropriate toys will be available to keep the fun going. The librarian will also be there to answer any questions, recommend books, and talk to families! Village Square Branch Monthly Teens Reach Meeting

Learn about volunteering at the library! This leadership and volunteer service group for teens ages 13-18 meets the third Thursday of each month. Get involved, earn volunteer hours, and be a leader in the library. To become a member of Village Square's Teens Reach to volunteer, you must be 13-18 years of age, have a strong interest in the library, enjoy working with people of all ages and cultures, be reliable and communicative, and be willing to learn new skills. Membership requires regular attendance at meetings, participation in and support of library activities and events, and a sense of fun and adventure. As a bonus, Teens Reach members can earn community service hours through participation in meetings and other volunteer opportunities.
