Join us on a library adventure to CuriOdyssey! We will be meeting at Coyote Point Park to explore on a self-guided tour of this 50-year old learning institution. Spend the day visiting and touring the many exhibits! Take a short walk with us on one of the several trails in Coyote Point. Bring your own lunch, or purchase snacks from CuriOdyssey's small store. Participants will need to pay the $6 parking fee or use SMCL's County Park's Pass to enter Coyote Point Park. Participants will meet library staff at entrance to CuriOdyssey (1651 Coyote Point Drive, San Mateo, CA 94401) at 10:00 AM.  Space is limited and registration is required.  Registration limit per person: 2 Participants are limited to registering for only one single occurrence of a CuriOdyssey field trip.

Starting with watercolors and various techniques to create texture on good watercolor paper, we move to using a fine waterproof pen to draw from real-life pieces of fruit to outline the shape. Using the color wheel and instructions on color selection (warm, cool, undertones, shadows), along with what you learned about textures, paint your selected fruit for a realistic but funky watercolor painting. This program is specifically for Adults. Registration is required, and space is limited. Please only register for one occurrence of this event.

This program is offered in partnership with the Stanford Hass Center for Public Service. Open to children entering kindergarten through 3rd grade.

This is a drop-in program intended for children ages 6-11 with materials provided on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Do you have a reluctant reader? Sign your child up to have their own session to practice reading with a therapy dog at the library. Studies show that children who may not want to read in front of their peers are much less anxious with an animal present. Children don't perceive animals as judgmental, and reading to an animal helps them become more confident readers. We’d like to thank our partners for making this possible: Pet Assisted Therapy teams and their handlers from the Peninsula Humane Society & the SPCA's Paws for Tales program. Registration is required and space is limited, so register early for your 10-minute slot.
