Children and families are invited to sing, play, and dance along in a library jam session!  Mr. Ritse will lead participants through classic nursery rhymes, upbeat jazz tunes, and their own requests (when possible). Emerging readers (about 5-8 years old) are invited to keep their literacy skills sharp over the summer by practicing phonics, learning sight words, and taking turns reading short books together. Wingmasters

Birds are not just related to dinosaurs; they are dinosaurs! Modern birds evolved from small, carnivorous dinosaurs in the Late Jurassic period. Wingmasters rehabilitate raptors that include eagles, hawks, falcons, and owls. This presentation will incorporate five live birds. Children aged 6-12 will learn about conservation efforts for these wild animals. Summer Reading at the BPL is generously supported by the Boston Public Library Fund. We’re excited to be partnering with City on a Hill Church for the second year to offer a series of crafts and activities led by college volunteers. With events including storytelling, gardening, painting, and more, this series aims to teach children (ages 6-12) about imagination, kindness, creativity, and teamwork. Join us in the Lower Mills Community Room for Crochet Club. Crocheters of all skill levels are welcome to work on your own projects or learn the first stitches in a crafty community. Basic supplies are available for beginners, and shared tools available for use in the Branch.
