Central, 2nd Floor History and Languages, 1301 Olive Street, St. Louis, MO 63103

Are you looking for an adventuring party to join, a new opponent to challenge, or a place to sharpen your hobby skills? Whether you’re a seasoned Dungeon Master or have never picked up a 20-sided die, the Central Library invites you to Looking for Group! Every second and fourth Thursday of the month, we transform our space into a tabletop haven. Connect: Meet local players interested in CCGs, RPGs, and miniatures.  Play: We have ample table space for staples like Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, and Dungeons & Dragons.  Explore: Don’t have a game of your own? Choose from our extensive in-house library of modern and classic board games.  Create: Visit our Army Painter Painting Station! Whether you’re finishing a massive dragon or your very first space marine, we provide the space and supplies to help you get your miniatures table-ready.  Learn: Newcomers are always welcome—our community is happy to teach you a new game or help you pick up a paintbrush for the first time.  When: 2nd and 4th Thursdays | 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.  Where: Central Library(History and Languages Room)  Cost: Free and open to the public. All experience and interest levels are welcome! Looking for Group (LFG) – Frequently Asked Questions  Where do I park? We offer free parking on 15th St, between Olive and Locust. The library parking code is the current year followed by the month and the pound sign (e.g., 2601#).  Do I need to register in advance? No registration is required! This is a drop-in event. You can arrive at 5:00 p.m. or join us whenever you can make it throughout the evening.  I’ve never played these games before. Can I still come? Absolutely! LFG is a "no-gatekeeping" zone. Many of our regulars love teaching new players. We also have a large library of beginner-friendly board games that take just minutes to learn.  Do I need to bring my own miniatures to use the painting station? You are encouraged to bring your own "gray plastic" to work on, but keep an eye out for special sessions where we may have practice minis available! We provide Army Painter paints, brushes, and water cups for public use.  Can I bring my own paints and supplies? Yes! You are welcome to bring your own supplies. We just ask that you be mindful of the library’s space and keep your station tidy. Is there a cost to participate? No. Like most library programs, Looking for Group is completely free.  What if I don't have a group to play with? That is exactly what we are here for! "LFG" stands for "Looking for Group." When you arrive, library staff or volunteers can help introduce you to others looking to start a game, or you can join a "pick-up" game at one of the open tables. Are there age restrictions? LFG is designed for adults and teens. We ask that younger children be accompanied by an adult, as some of the games played can be complex or involve small pieces.
