Paper Cutting and Crafts for Families

Drop by to do themed paper-cutting and paper craft activities each month. When children play and craft with parents, they are learning and developing critical fine motor skills. They also build a positive relationship with others. This is important for children and teens on the autism spectrum. Learn easy crafts you can do at home with your child.  Build community connections in this Mandarin/English bilingual program.  Supplies provided. Join volunteers who help students practice reading out loud. Two students are paired by reading level with each volunteer. Book selection focuses on readers in grades K-8 and English-language learners in grades K-12. Reading Buddies share eBooks on an iPad. Books selection changes every two weeks. Students may bring a book to share. Look for volunteers wearing the green Reading Buddies t-shirt. Add your name to the sign-up sheet for a 30-minute spot at your reading level. Study Zone Study Zone programs provide volunteer-led academic support for grades K-12. Programs include Tutors, Math Club, Reading Buddies and Kids & Teens Talk Time. Available online and in libraries. Online Study Zone programs are supervised by library staff. Visit Study Zone for the Terms of Use Agreement and steps KCLS is taking to maintain a safe and positive online space. Reasonable accommodation for people with disabilities is available by request. This expert panel discussion will focus on planning for life's unexpected situations, including questions about joint accounts, powers of attorney, estate planning, benefits, and available community resources. Panelists will lead a discussion sharing practical steps you can take to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your peace of mind.  Presented in partnership with a local administrator and organizer for the AARP Ethel Gathering Group* in Puget Sound, this weekly program offers a supportive space to dive into the essentials of aging with confidence, purpose, and community. *The Ethel, part of AARP is a community of like-minded women, ages 50+, seeking to smash stereotypes around aging.
