This gentle class focuses on an exploration of basic yoga poses and how to connect them through attention to breathing, alignment and mindfulness. Chair yoga is perfect for those who want the benefits of yoga without getting up and down from the floor. With the support of a chair, you can build strength, improve posture and increase flexibility in a comfortable and accessible way. Open to all levels of practice and abilities, this gentle class focuses on an exploration of basic yoga poses and how to connect them through attention to breathing, alignment and mindfulness. Although much of the class will be done seated in a chair, the option to practice standing poses to improve balance, strength and flexibility are also included. Expect lots of gentle stretching to bring movement to the joints and muscles. This class is perfect for stress relief and overall well-being. Amy Shanti Manifase is an experienced yoga teacher who has completed 500 hour Advanced Teacher Training with additional certifications in Therapeutic Yoga, Gentle Yogis, Prime of Life Yoga, Restorative Yoga and Mindful Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Meditation. Her teaching is rooted in accessibility, compassion and the belief that yoga is a lifelong practice adaptable to every circumstance and stage of life. Amy Shanti’s classes offer students a safe & welcoming environment to reduce stress, support healthy aging & connect with a sense of calm & vitality beyond the mat. Participants should consult their personal physician before beginning any exercise routine. Registration is required. A link to the Zoom meeting will be included in your confirmation email (sent after you register) and a reminder email (sent one day prior to the program). Begin your meditation journey here. The benefits of a regular meditation practice are life-altering. The key is consistent practice. Meditation will be instructor-led and begin with centering and light movement (mainly of the spine), pranayama (a breathing practice), and then a deeper dive into a meditation experience together. Various concepts will be introduced throughout different classes. There's strong energy meditating in community. Let's down-regulate our nervous systems together! Registration is preferred. About Your Instructor: Lyn Lilavati Sirota is a certified Yoga Instructor who specializes in therapeutic, anatomy-informed yoga and meditation instruction with a focus on range of movement and therapeutic practices. This subtle style of yoga is beneficial for injury rehabilitation, arthritis, trauma, anxiety, chronic pain, and over-stimulated nervous systems. Furthering her knowledge, Lyn completed a Therapeutic Yoga Teacher Training, a Yin Yoga Teacher Training, as well as a program in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. In addition, Lyn certified in Yoga for Arthritis and Yoga for Low Back Pain with Dr. Loren Fishman. Lyn is mentored in Anatomy and the Neuroscientific/Psychological benefits of slow, mindful yoga with a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Yoga Therapist.

Megabyte Mondays are the library's weekly computer and technology classes. This class will include a brief history and description of what the internet is and how to navigate it using a web browser. We will do some basic searching and learn what makes up a good website. You are expected to know how to use a mouse before taking this class. Bring your own laptop or device or borrow one of ours. Our volunteer support group facilitators receive specialized training about Alzheimer’s disease and group facilitation techniques, as well as ongoing support and evaluation. Experience authentic Tai Chi training, also referred to as 'Meditation in Motion,' with Dr. Gang Huang. Dr. Gang Huang, the founder of 'Seeking Tai Chi,' will be teaching Tai Chi classes for those who have little or no Tai Chi experience. The focus will be on fundamentals that aim to improve strength, balance, coordination, and inner piece to lead to healthy living. It is not necessary to attend previous classes to benefit from a Tai Chi for Beginner session. This will be a perfect opportunity to get to experience authentic Tai Chi training which is also referred to as 'Meditation in Motion.' Registration is appreciated but walk-ins are welcome!
