Mindful Minute: Community Puzzles and Coloring
Source
South Regional Broward College Library, Second Floor
Take a break from the stress of the day & practice being mindful! About Mindful Minute: Relive some stress, relax, and ground yourself with puzzles and coloring! Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. While mindfulness is something we all naturally possess, it’s more readily available to us when we practice on a daily basis. Whenever you bring awareness to what you’re directly experiencing via your senses, or to your state of mind via your thoughts and emotions, you’re being mindful. And there’s growing research showing that when you train your brain to be mindful, you’re actually remodeling the physical structure of your brain. Voices of Our Neighborhoods: A mobile public art project
Source
Southwest Regional Library, 2nd floor Exhibit Space
Stop by this summer for Voices of Our Neighborhoods, a mobile public art project combining large-scale visual art with community-sourced audio to celebrate the diverse stories of Broward County. Voices of Our Neighborhoods is a mobile public art project combining large-scale visual art with community-sourced audio to celebrate the diverse stories of Broward County. At its center is a 12'×7' modular mural made entirely of colored circles and dots, symbolizing unity. Earthy Everglades tones blend into bright ocean blues, with the center reflecting the colors of each Broward district, all anchored by an outlined county map. This mural collects 15 personal stories—memories, poems, songs, and spoken word—each paired with a painted wooden cutout of the storyteller’s home, a plexiglass portrait, and a QR code linking to their audio. Born and raised in Switzerland, Gabriela Gamperl has called Broward County home since 1994. After studying drawing and sketching at the Crystal Lake Community School, she began sharing her passion for art through decades of volunteer work in local schools. As a longtime volunteer of the Deerfield Beach Cultural Committee, Gabriela brought the Meet the Master program to elementary schools in Deerfield Beach and co-created Love4Arts, an afterschool initiative blending visual art and music for elementary and middle school youth. Her artistic contributions include several public murals, among them a 2024 sensory mural for Deerfield Beach Elementary’s Autism hallway—an interactive space where students can play and explore through art. Gabriela also serves as an art instructor and curator at the Deerfield Beach Historical Society Museum & Cultural Center, where she helps nurture community creativity and exhibitions. Certified as an Art4Healing® facilitator, she leads workshops promoting emotional wellness through art. Extending her mission of healing and connection, she now teaches art in retirement and memory care communities, continuing her lifelong commitment to inspire joy, peace, and creativity through art. Artist Elsa Zarduz: Pixels for the Soul
Source
West Regional Library, 2nd Floor Gallery
Join us for “Pixels for the Soul,” a contemplative digital art exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Elsa Zarduz. An exhibit featuring the work of Elsa Zarduz. On display at West Regional Library from June 1, 2026 - July 31, 2026. Art exhibit “ Pixels for the Soul ” explores how digital tools can hold the same tenderness, emotion, and presence as traditional media. Although this exhibition focuses on digital work, it is part of a broader exploration of techniques rooted in my primary practice of oil painting and my love for mixed media. Digital painting becomes another extension of that language, another way to layer texture, light, and feeling. Artist Statement: I approach technology as I would a pencil or brush. Working in Procreate, I sketch, build form, and develop depth through slow, intentional gestures. The medium changes, but the discipline and intimacy of drawing remain the same. Digital work does not replace my traditional methods; it expands them. A meaningful piece in this exhibition, Portrait of My Dad, reflects this connection between technique and emotion. Created with the same sensitivity I bring to my oil portraits, it received an Honorable Mention in Spain and stands here as a tribute to memory, love, and the people who shape us. The works in this series explore digital comfort—the warmth found in simple, everyday moments: a bowl of soup, a street in Chinatown, a remembered place, an animal moving in quiet rhythm. These scenes invite stillness without emptiness, solitude without loneliness. In a fast-paced world, Pixels for the Soul pauses to honor the small visuals that nourish us. Through digital painting, I reflect on how ordinary experiences can hold extraordinary joy, reminding us that comfort and humanity can exist even within pixels. Artist Elsa Zarduz Elsa Zarduz Bio Elsa Zarduz is a multidisciplinary visual artist and educator whose creative practice spans more than two decades of continuous exploration, teaching, and artistic production. With extensive experience in museology, cinematography, photography, and television production, she brings a rich and diverse perspective to her work. Her art has been exhibited in renowned galleries and cultural spaces across Mexico City, New York City, Miami, and Spain, reflecting her international presence and artistic versatility. Guided by a deep passion for life and the transformative power of visual expression, Elsa is committed to helping others unlock their creative potential. As a Visual Arts Instructor at Sagemont Preparatory School, she empowers students to develop strong artistic foundations, refine their technical skills and discover their own expressive voices. Elsa holds a master’s degree in art and design from ESD, Barcelona University, and a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Communication from FAD, UNAM in Mexico City. Featured Artist Danielle Jadusingh: One and the Same: Life vs. Death and Transformation
Source
Featured Artist Danielle Jadusingh, 2nd Floor Gallery
Mixed Media Artist Danielle Jadusingh Mixed Media Artist A multi-disciplinary artist whose academic pursuits, travels and multicultural upbringing between Jamaica, the United States, and the United Kingdom play a great influence in how she shares stories through her art pursuits over the last 15 years. The use of bold quirky mediums, particularly through textiles and embroidery lead to narratives that carry weight with a level of permanence that is difficult to dismiss. ONE AND THE SAME: LIFE VS. DEATH AND TRANSFORMATION This exhibition with thirteen pieces of mixed media (primarily with a focus on textiles) exploring the lines of life and transformation which can be found even in the mundane. DJ believes that life is a resilient force of energy that even when destruction and chaos seem obvious, life perseveres. Simple things as grass and plants growing through concrete, or the use of something that was meant for destruction actually doing that opposite. These pieces spark the conversation that nothing every truly ends and the lines between life, decay, transformation and death blur. A Service of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners

3D Paper Art: Unearth a Story with ARTY Van Gogh
Source
Hallandale Beach Branch, Multipurpose Room
Hop on the ARTY VAN GOGH bus this summer and create art! This program is sponsored by the Broward Public Library Foundation. Broward County Libraries Summer Learning Program 2026 has teamed up with the Mobile Art Studio, Art Reaching Today’s Youth, Inc. (ARTY) to create 3D paper art projects based on the summer learning theme, Unearth a Story. We will create a paper dinosaur, a volcano and a palm tree using recycled materials such as chipboard, tagboard, paper towel rolls and cardstock. Kindergarten through adult are invited to participate, younger children should be accompanied by an adult. Please register the name of each attendee. About ARTY Van Gogh : Artist and art teacher Libby Hodges had a vision for making art activities and visual arts education accessible to more people, especially children. From that desire came the idea for creating a mobile studio. After some research and a bit of scouting the Internet, Libby found an International Navistar bus that had been retired from active school service, but still had many miles left to go. A team of dedicated, tireless volunteers under Libby's direction transformed the bus into Arty Van Gogh, complete with new flooring, worktables, seating, and a paint job that turns heads wherever Arty goes. The plan for creating a mobile art studio started with making sure the space would be comfortable for students and functional, considering all the various activities and styles of art that students get to work on.
