Al-Anon Meeting: Brought to us by Al-Anon Family Groups

Source

Lower Cape, Joseph Millman Room

Every Thursday from 11am-12pm, and Saturday from 9:30am-10:30am at the Lower Township branch. All events are tentatively scheduled and may change. Please see the CMCL Events Calendar on our website, follow us on social media , and subscribe to our weekly eNewsletter for any and all updates. Welcome to Al-Anon - Our personal situations may be different, but we share as equals because of what we have in common: our lives have been affected by another person’s drinking. Al-Anon is a mutual support group. We can find understanding and support when we share our common experience with each other. Some of us are here because a spouse or partner has struggled with alcoholism. For others, the problem drinker is a parent, child, or grandchild. Sometimes a brother, a sister, or some other friend or relative brings us to Al-Anon. Many of us have had more than one alcoholic family member or friend. Alcoholism has similar effects on us all, even though our relationships to the alcoholic may be different. Many newcomers are most interested in hearing about situations and relationships that are similar to their own. Over time, however, we come to understand that we can benefit from hearing how the Al-Anon principles worked in many different circumstances. The group will NOT meet on the following dates in 2026 : 1/1, 11/26 About Al-Anon meetings: Al‑Anon is a mutual support group. Everyone at the meeting shares as an equal. No one is in a position to give advice or direction to anyone else. Everyone at the meeting has experienced a problem with someone else’s drinking. You are free to ask questions or to talk about your situation at your first meeting. If you’d rather just listen, you can say “I pass,” or explain that you’d just like to listen. Every meeting is different. Each meeting has the autonomy to be run as its members choose, within guidelines designed to promote Al‑Anon unity. Al‑Anon recommends that you try at least six different meetings before you decide if Al‑Anon will be helpful to you. Al‑Anon is not a religious program. Even when the meeting is held in a religious center, the local Al‑Anon group pays rent to that center and is not affiliated in any way with any religious group. Your religious beliefs—or lack of them—are not a subject for discussion at Al‑Anon meetings, which focus solely on coping with the effects of someone’s drinking. It will take some time to fully understand the significance of anonymity to the Al‑Anon program. But at its simplest level, anonymity means that the people in the room will respect the confidentiality of what you say and won’t approach you outside the room in a way that compromises your privacy or the privacy of anyone who attended an Al‑Anon meeting. The meeting will likely begin with a reading of the Twelve Steps of Al‑Anon. It will take some time to fully understand how the Twelve Steps can be a helpful tool in recovering from the effects of someone’s drinking. But Al‑Anon gives you the opportunity to grow at your own pace. Learn more here: https://al-anon.org/al-anon-meetings/ Have feedback? We'd love to hear from you! Source

Sea Isle City, Public Meeting Room

Registration REQUIRED. All events are tentatively scheduled and may change. Please see the CMCL Events Calendar on our website, follow us on social media , and subscribe to our weekly eNewsletter for any and all updates. You will be guided through the process of how to create a scene with soft pastels. You will be taught the underpainting process, scrumbling, and different layering techniques. No experience necessary...only an interest to learn and have fun. Or, an opportunity to fine-tune your skills. I will paint with you as I provide one on one instruction. All materials supplied . Bring a smock or clothes you don't mind getting messy. Elissa Goldberg started drawing with pastels approximately 20 years ago. She is now a member of the Pastel Society of America. Some of her pieces have been inspired by her many travels and wondrous explorations through her native Bucks County, while others come from her vivid imagination. Spending countless hours refining her technique and compositions, she hopes the viewer will share her appreciation of the combination of light, movement and color that makes each piece so alive. Her artwork can be found in many galleries throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Elissa divides her time between working as a family law attorney, raising three girls and painting lush landscapes and water sites. Working with pastels is a means of escape as it provides a counterbalance to the type of legal work that is inherently stressful. Her passion for art has come from her family roots. Her grandmother and her aunt, both accomplished artists in their own right, were her first art teachers. Elissa’s artwork can also be found on her Instagram account at @fineartbyelissa .
