Delicious adventures await! This hands-on session will help your future foodie become more creative and confident in the kitchen. Ages 9-12. All attendees must have a signed waiver; you can download and have a caregiver sign it prior to the program or you can have them sign one of the copies we'll have on-site. We'll do our best to accommodate allergies; however, it may not always be possible and we must be made aware of them two weeks before the program. New English speakers will practice everyday language skills in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Age 18 and up. Learners will enjoy friendly conversation, learn about daily life in the United States, gain confidence, and meet new people from around the world. Complete an initial registration at the VITAL office (Downtown Library, second floor), and then attend any English Language Group. Registration includes a brief level assessment. Intermediate English skills are suggested. Visit VITAL English Language Groups to learn more about language levels. Bring any light-colored item of clothing you'd like or use one of the supplied shirts to make a wearable tie-dye masterpiece! All materials and instructions will be provided. Ages 12-19. Note: Please specify your t-shirt size when registering or indicate if you'll be bringing your own shirt from home. Please come dressed in clothes and shoes that are approved to get stained, as fabric dye does not wash out. Explore the power of memories and postcard memoirs in this writing workshop led by local writer Shana Ritter. Age 18 and up. Unearth your story this summer through this unique memoir-writing workshop. Local author and speaker Shana Ritter will lead participants through the process of how to start writing memoirs, asking the right questions, and finding a way to grab individual memories and link them together. Shana will be using the ideas of postcard memoirs—how to take a snapshot of your life and share it. Please bring a notebook and pen or laptop, and be prepared to have fun! No previous experience is necessary. About Shana Ritter: Shana Ritter writes poetry and prose and pieces in between. Her work has appeared in journals, magazines and anthologies including Lilith , Fifth Wednesday , and Trigger Warnings . Her chapbook, Stairs of Separation , was published by Finishing Line Press. In the Time of Leaving , a novel of exile and resilience, is set in late 15th century Spain and newly published in 2024. She is currently at work on a memoir and a new collection of poetry. Shana has been awarded the Indiana Individual Artist Grant on multiple occasions.
