Lake Chaminwood Preserve
Ages 14-17. Learn the basics from ACA-certified staff from Four Rivers EEC. Registration and waiver required. If using our app, visit bit.ly/kayaktrpld26 for full details and link to download waiver. Teens ages 14-17 are invited to sign-up for this on water experience! Two ACA-certified staff from Four Rivers Environmental Education Center will provide a basic intro to paddling, safety tips, and guide us onto Lake Chaminwood for practice. Registration opens May 26th at 10am. Space is limited! How to sign-up: 1) Complete an online registration form (one form per person). 2) Have a parent/legal guardian sign a waiver. Return the signed waiver no later than Tuesday, July 14th. Waivers can be downloaded here , or, pick one up at the front desk at either the Channahon or Minooka library. Waivers may be returned to either location, or, scanned and emailed to amberm@trpld.org . Kayaks, paddles, and life jackets will be provided. Participants may want to bring their own water bottle, hat and sunscreen. Closed-toe shoes are also recommended. Please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early so we can begin our program on time. We also ask that anyone providing a participating teen with a ride return no later than 12:15pm for pick-up. Parents or family members accompanying a registered teen MAY NOT join the class and no extra kayaks or equipment will be provided. Please do not ask. This program will take place rain or shine. In the event of lightning or other severe weather, this program may be canceled. In the event of a cancelation, the library and FREEC will do our best to reschedule, but we cannot guarantee availability of staff or equipment for rescheduling.
