The Vision Van will be visiting some of our libraries this summer, to perform free eye exams and provide free glasses for students aged 4-18 years old. These are the dates the Vision Van will be at the library: Thursday June 18: Northside Branch (550 Buckeye St, Chillicothe, OH 45601) Thursday June 25: Paxton Branch (113 Dewey Ave. Bainbridge, OH 45612) Thursday July 2: Kingston Branch (29 N. Main St. Kingston, OH 45644) Thursday July 9: Main Library (140 S. Paint St. Chillicothe, OH 45601) Appointments for eye exams will be between 9:00 am and 2:30 pm each day, and will fill up fast! Use this link to sign up: https://bit.ly/CRCPL_Eye_Exams If your child has a current prescription for glasses, you can also request a free pair of glasses during any of the Vision Van stops. If you are only requesting glasses, you don't need to make an appointment. Just stop by before 2pm so we can work you in to pick your frames and measure for glasses.

Creative Aging Class Series

The Creative Aging series is an art exploration class open to those aged 55+. No prior experience is needed. Participants are asked to commit to all 6 class dates. With Teaching Artist Jessica Held. The series is designed to encourage participants to learn, create, and experiment together while building social connections through shared creative experiences. During the first four meetings, participants will explore Suminagashi monotype printmaking and cyanotype photograms. These processes are accessible, flexible, and allow participants to discover new materials and techniques. The fifth meeting will include an art opening that is open to the public, as well as family members and friends of participants. This celebration will give participants the opportunity to share their work, connect with their community, and experience the joy of seeing their artwork displayed. Artwork will remain on display until August 27, when participants will gather for a reunion meeting. This final session will provide time to pick up artwork, reconnect with fellow participants, and participate in an art activity. This class is taught by Teaching Artist Jessica Held, and is supported with grant funding through the IMLS and State Library of Ohio.

Come listen to some great stories and songs. Storytime helps develop a young child's literacy skills and nurtures a love of reading. Each week, both "Budding Bookworms" storytimes will use the same stories and the same rhymes. You're welcome to bring your little ones to either or both. The Tuesday version will be in an enclosed meeting room in our Main Library Annex, meaning fewer distractions, and more of a challenge for little escape artists. The Wednesday version will be in the children's room, full of fun things to look at and books to check out. There are lots of early learning benefits to "repeat reading" (or reading the same book over and over), so coming both days is also a great option!
