Matchmaker. Detective? Sixty-year-old self-proclaimed tea expert Vera Wong enjoys nothing more than sipping a good cup of Wulong and doing some healthy ‘detective’ work on the internet (AKA checking up on her son to see if he’s dating anybody yet), but when Vera wakes up one morning to find a dead man in the middle of her tea shop, it’s going to take more than a strong Longjing to fix things. Knowing she’ll do a better job than the police possibly could – because nobody sniffs out a wrongdoing quite like a suspicious Chinese mother with time on her hands – Vera decides it’s down to her to catch the killer. Nobody spills the tea like this amateur sleuth. We usually meet at the Worthington Winery, however, if that is not possible, we will meet at the library. The Women by Kristin Hannah A historical fiction novel about Frances McGrath, a young nursing student who joins the Army Nurse Corps and serves in Vietnam during the war, following her brother. The book explores her experiences in a war zone, the challenges of returning home to a divided America, and the often-overlooked sacrifices of women in the military. This book discussion will be held at the Somers Senior Center. Copies of the book will be available at the senior center and the library.

In this female buddy film, a conservative female cop (Reese Witherspoon) is paired with the wife of a notorious drug dealer (Sofia Vergara) whose life is being threatened by the head of a cartel. All the police officer has to do is make sure that she delivers her charge safely to her destination—to testify against the kingpin. However, this task does not end up being as simple as it sounds. Rated PG-13. 1 hours and 27 minutes.

For children ages 18 months - 5 years. Muddy Buddies is an outdoor, play-based early childhood program where children are encouraged to explore, create, imagine, discover and learn through play! Calling all plant enthusiasts! Do you have extra clippings, plant propagations, too many of one plant, or not enough room for all of your plants? Come drop them off at our plant swap, and go home with a new one! This includes both indoor and outdoor plants. Plants must be free from pests. Meet and chat with fellow gardeners, check out a gardening book, and leave inspired! This is a drop-in event. No registration is required.

James by Percival Everett - Led by Denise Stankovics This greatly acclaimed novel is a retelling of the Huck Finn story from the point of view of the runaway slave who joins Huck on his journey down the Mississippi River. One reviewer called it "a masterpiece that will help redefine one of the classics of American literature while also being a major achievement on its own” as it explores themes including freedom, identity, and the absurdity of racism. This winner of the 2025 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, National Book Award, American Book Award, and Kirkus Prize is currently being adapted into a major feature film. From surprising color changes to bubbling gas and temperature shifts, they’ll learn which mixtures make magic — and the science behind it.
