Join Professor Sid Gottlieb for an abbreviated screening and discussion of Rear Window, a masterwork of suspense by Alfred Hitchcock. Professor Gottlieb will share poignant clips of the movie along with his interpretation. Be sure to borrow the DVD currently available at the Front Desk for check out. This program will be approximately 1.5 hours long. Dr. Gottlieb, who has taught at Sacred Heart University since 1976, is a leading Hitchcock scholar and longtime editor of Hitchcock Annual. His books include Hitchcock on Hitchcock and Framing Hitchcock. Enjoy a classic film on the library screen along with lively, accessible insights from an expert.

Get Hooked! Let’s crochet! Bring your own project or join a guided monthly project while sharing tips, skills, and inspiration with others. Optional project kits will be available at cost for those participating in the guided projects. Each new project will have its own materials kit, available for purchase at cost through the library. Since its founding in 2019, CT Examiner has won more than 140 regional, state and national awards. CT Examiner Editor Gregory Stroud and reporter Amy Wu talk about the ups and downs of the news business and what it means to work in an industry when 40% of newspapers have closed since 2000 and many more have downsized to shadows of their former selves. Gregory Stroud — Prior to launching CT Examiner in 2019, Stroud earned a PhD in History and taught at Bennington College. He also wrote and directed plays for the stage and was Director of Special Projects for the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation. Amy Wu — Amy Wu is an award-winning journalist and reports on Southeastern Connecticut for CT Examiner. Amy spent over two decades as a reporter at media outlets including the USA Today Network and also worked at Time magazine and The Deal.
