Virtual 3D Printing

US

Leah English provides a step by step tutorial on how to use Tinkercad. Tinkercad is an easy to use 3D CAD design tool, where you can create an object that we can print on our 3D printer. Check out the library's YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pfP5DoBzNU, follow the steps to create your own 3D printed piece. Please review the rules below before submitting a 3D printing request. Cost: 3D prints cost $0.20 per gram. Cash only. Size: The maximum build volume is 220x220x250 mm. All 3D prints will be limited to a maximum of 8 hours of print time. Material: All requests will be printed in PLA filament. File: 3D model prints can be sent to YPL3DPrint@gmail.com. Files should be in STL format (.stl). Submissions of multiple files will be printed on the same build plate if possible. The following types of files will not be considered for printing: - Prohibited by local, state, or federal law. - Unsafe, harmful, dangerous, or which could reasonably be mistaken for a weapon. - Inappropriate for printing in a public space. Pickup: Prints will be completed in the order received. An email notification will be sent when the 3D print is ready for pickup. Please allow at least 7 business days for completion. 3D prints left unclaimed after 30 days become the property of the library and may be discarded. Completed prints can be picked up at the Youth Services desk. Disclaimers: Library staff do not design 3D models for customers. We recommend Tinkercad as a free, web-based design app for beginners. Free 3D models can also be downloaded from various websites. Requests submitted without specifications will be printed with default settings. All 3D prints will be printed at standard quality. The library offers 3D printing as an educational and hobby-level service. Because print quality can vary, results are not guaranteed. The library is not responsible for failed or unsatisfactory prints, and fees for completed jobs are nonrefundable. The library reserves the right to refuse any 3D print request.
