Nature Knowledge with Whitewater State Park

June 11 in the Bell Art Room and July 9, 10 AM at Windom Park Join naturalists from Whitewater State Park on June 11 & July 10 at 10 AM at Windom Park to interactively learn about the plants & animals in our beautiful driftless area. We’ll start with a brief nature education piece, followed by activities and crafts related to the topic. This is great for ages 6 and up. Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Fossils June 11th 10am in the Bell Art Room (library, 2nd Floor) Come learn about fossils from our area & how you can spot them. We’ll also do an activity & craft together! Slithering into Your Heart. July 9th 10am During this program we will discover some of the common snakes found in southeastern Minnesota. We’ll learn about our local rattlesnakes and the copycats trying to trick us into thinking they are rattlesnakes too. We’ll even have a chance to meet the real thing!

This summer, the community is invited to Millennial Movie Monday, a special three‑part film series celebrating the unforgettable hits of the early 2000s. Screenings will take place at 4:00 p.m. on the second Monday of each month, June through August. Each month features a beloved millennial‑era favorite: June 8: Bring It On July 13: Napoleon Dynamite August 10: Mean Girls Guests can sit back, relax, and enjoy complimentary popcorn and a light beverage as they revisit these crowd‑pleasing classics. Glow With the Flow: Creative Candle‑Jar Decorating at the Library

The Winona Public Library invites patrons to tap into their summer creativity at Glow With the Flow, a hands‑on craft program taking place on Tuesday, July 14 from 3:30 to 5:00 PM in the Library’s Learning Plaza. During this relaxed, drop‑in event, participants will decorate small candle jars using materials such as washi tape, acrylic paint, glitter, and more. Each attendee will have the opportunity to design their own unique glowing creation to take home and enjoy. All supplies—including candle jars—are provided free of charge. This program is open to all ages, requires no registration, and encourages creativity, experimentation, and a little summertime sparkle.

Reel Bad Movie Night lets teens take over the library for an unapologetically goofy screening of Power Rangers (1995) on the big screen. Expect over-the-top special effects, peak 90s fashion choices, and plenty of moments worth roasting with your friends. Come ready to laugh loudly, quote badly, and enjoy a movie that’s so bad it’s perfect. The movie is rated PG and the runtime is 96 minutes. Registration is required.

Historic Library Tours

Travel through time as you take a guided tour of Winona’s historic public library and learn not only its history but its architectural development.  Tours are a half hour to 45-minutes and will meet outside at the base of the original entrance on 5th Street.  In the case of rain, tours will meet in the lobby on Johnson Street.  Registration is not necessary.
