Join us on the MMPL patio for a special storytime and activity led by Renée Murrish and her trusty K9 golden retriever companion, Java. After the story, Renée will lead activities centered around civic care and engagement for young learners. This reoccurring program will take place on 2nd and 4th Thursdays in June and July. In the event of bad weather, program will be moved inside. --------------------------------------------------------------- As founder and president of the non-profit Mandan Cares, Renée is passionate about supporting the mental health and overall well-being of first responders and city team members who do so much to make Mandan a good place to call home. Detectives will gain reading confidence, participate in engaging activities, receive take-home materials, and earn an official badge for their hard work upon completion of this 4-part series! Open to kids entering 2nd grade. Registration includes all four July dates: July 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th. Program will start around 12:45 in the community room, after free lunch and storytime in the park. Registration for July 14th, 21st and 28th are closed due to the requirement of prior registration and participation in the first session.

Join us a MMPL for an evening of history, poetry, and conversation about the 2025 republication of Clell Goebel Gannon's 1924 Songs of the Bunch Grass Acres. Republished by The Digital Press at the University of North Dakota, this volume also includes Gannon's June 1925 "A Short Account of a Rowboat Journey from Medora to Bismarck," which appeared in the first volume of North Dakota History in 1926. Northern Plains historian Aaron Barth authored the new introduction and will provide historical context and commentary on Gannon's works. Aaron Barth is the executive director of the Northern Plains Heritage Alliance, which includes the Fort Abraham Lincoln Foundation and the Northern Plains National Heritage Area. His work centers around advocating for and bringing awareness to the rich cultural, historical, and natural heritage of the Northern Plains.
