Soak up the best of summer with librarian James on moderately paced walks around the neighborhood, through local parks, and along the Jones Beach Boardwalk. Each outing is a chance to enjoy the fresh air, take in the scenery, and spend time with others in a relaxed, welcoming group. Walks will range from 2 to 4 miles and are best suited for fairly active adults and seniors. Dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes, and don’t forget to bring water. Join Instructor Judy Hausman Leff, a Vibrational Sound Therapy practitioner certified by the Vibrational Sound Association, for a Sound Meditation Session. Sound Meditation is a form of meditation where sound is used as a therapeutic tool to help participants disengage from their busy, thinking brains and relax into deeper, meditative state. Judy will use crystal bowls, metal bowls, chimes, gongs, other drone and overtone-emitting instruments and her voice to create these sound vibrations. Experience with meditation is not needed! As a matter of fact, Sound Meditation is really great for first time meditators or people who have trouble with meditating.
