ZOOM - Better Sleep for Kids: Basics, Myths, and Strategies That Work

Sleep problems are common in childhood, but it can be hard for families to know what is developmentally typical, what may signal a problem, and what actually helps. This talk will cover the basics of healthy sleep in children, common myths and misconceptions, and practical strategies families can use to support better sleep. Special attention will also be given to sleep challenges in children with neurodevelopmental differences, including autism, ADHD, and developmental disabilities. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of children’s sleep and realistic ideas they can apply at home.
Participants will learn:
What healthy and developmentally typical sleep looks like in children
Common myths that can interfere with good sleep habits
Practical strategies to support sleep, including for children with neurodevelopmental differences
In partnership with Parents Helping Parents Coalition of Monroe County.

About the presenter: Kenneth D. Shamlian, PsyD, ABPP, BCBA-D, DBSM is a licensed psychologist and board-certified specialist in behavioral sleep medicine. He is the founder of KDS Psychological Services, PLLC and formerly served as Director of Pediatric IDD Behavioral Health Services at URMC. His clinical work has focused on children and families with autism, ADHD, developmental disabilities, and complex behavioral and sleep concerns.

Vintage Book Sale

Shop over 200 fiction and non-fiction books, published between the 19th century and the early 21st century! Some titles include first editions, early printings, and books that appear to have been signed by the author. Many include dust jackets and nearly all books are in good or better condition. Prices start at $8; prices are firm. This sale is a fundraiser run by the Friends of the Webster Public Library; proceeds from the sale support the library.
Kittelberger's Bouquet Cards will be sold at this Vintage Book Sale, and will be on sale until August 1 at the library's Checkout Desk. Purchase a card for $50 and get 12 fresh bouquets of flowers for one year (one bouquet per month).
