Creation Station is a twice monthly interactive program that welcomes adults with developmental disabilities on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 10:00 AM. Art Lab, on the 2nd Monday, will offer several arts and crafts stations with a variety of materials to accommodate different interests and abilities. Maker Lab, on the 4th Monday, will offer puzzles, games, LEGOs and other building and problem solving materials. Join us on the second Monday of the month, 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm for a youth leadership opportunity and act as a youth voice for Sandy area teens. TAB works with the teen librarian to provide input about how the library can be a welcoming environment for all teens, help plan teen programs/events, get volunteer hours, and more! In the summer sessions of TAB, come help write, direct, and produce social media reels for pages like TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. Teens will help create the content, but library staff will star in the videos to protect teen privacy! This presentation examines both the present and future of gardening with native plants in a rapidly changing environment. OSU Extension Service Master Gardener™ Eric Butler will explore local ecosystems and the processes that create and change them.  In addition, Eric will highlight how to set goals, choose plants, and manage adaptively for greater biodiversity and resilience in the garden and beyond. Do you have a child working to improve their reading skills? Bring your child to the Sandy Library to read to Tanis!   Tanis will be in the Sandy Library children's area and he would love it if you read him your favorite book! Read to the Dog is a great way for your child to practice their reading in a fun environment.   We are partnering with DoveLewis’ Portland Area Canine Therapy Teams program to offer interactive reading sessions for readers looking to develop their confidence in reading aloud with a furry companion.   Date: Tuesdays Time: 4:15 pm to 5:15 pm   Sessions are 15 minute increments.

Do you have a child that wants to improve their reading skills? Come join the Hoodland Library for Books with Booker. Kids can sign up for 15-minute sessions with a licensed therapy dog. Books with Booker can help improve your child's reading skills, enthusiasm for reading, and interaction with pets. All dog handlers will be present during the duration of this activity. Do you enjoy writing? Do you want to improve your writing skills through helpful feedback from peers, and do you feel comfortable providing feedback to other writers? Are you interested in being a part of a supportive and enthusiastic writing community?    This is a critique group where members share writing and critique on their works. Potential members should have writing ready that they would like critiqued and be willing to contribute writing on a regular basis. Summer Makerspace is back! This year help us test our new 3D printer! Register for free to be a part of a teen makerspace group. Groups meet every other week for 8 weeks for a total of 4 classes. Makerspace group is a group of teens that gather to design, create, and experiment with a variety of tools and materials in a creative and hands-on learning environment. Learn a new skill and make new friends! Teens in grades 6 - 12 are welcome. A maximum of 10 participants per group. Example projects include: Tensegrity Tables, Infinity Mirrors, Glow in the Dark Ghost in a Jar, and Sunprinting! This NAMI Support Group meeting is a free, peer-led support group for any adult who has experienced mental health concerns or is seeking peer support about the recent Sandy tragedy. This group will be led by a peer support specialist who has lived through a community mass shooting. The meeting will be confidential, and no specific medical therapy or treatment is endorsed. Got a current hyper-fixation? Expert on a random topic? Come to our slideshow party and share your knowledge! The first half of the program will be spent making your own slideshow on a topic of your choice! Feel free to use images, videos, or any other format in your presentation.
