Round Rock Public Library, 200 E. Liberty Ave, Round Rock, TX, TX, 78664, United States
The Round Rock Public Library and NASA Engages present Artemis Generation – NASA’s Next Giant Leap from 1:00 – 2:30PM on Saturday, July 18, in Meeting Room A&B.
Learn about NASA’s Artemis program, which aims to return humans to the Moon and prepare for future missions to Mars. Artemis has already journeyed to the Moon twice: Artemis I, an uncrewed test flight, launched on November 16, 2022, and orbited the Moon before returning on December 11, 2022; and Artemis II, a crewed mission that completed a lunar flyby from April 1–11, 2026. Discover how Artemis will advance science, test new technologies, and build the foundation for the first long-term human presence on the Moon through partnerships with commercial and international collaborators.
All are welcome to attend. Recommended for ages 8 and up.
About NASA EngagesThe NASA Engages program is composed of NASA Experts who share NASA missions and content at educational, professional, civic, and other public venues. Audiences include preschool to college, libraries and museums, scouts, professional and technical organizations, community groups and other non-profit organizations. Experts are made up of professionals from education, engineering, science, and other fields. NASA Engages is led by NASA’s Next Gen STEM program in the Office of STEM Engagement.
About the Presenter
Tyler Hines is currently a contract specialist with NASA. He is also a former Pathways student intern at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, where he gained experience in both the Office of Communications and the Office of Procurement. He holds an MBA in Government Contracts and Acquisition from American Public University, where he also earned his B.S. in Space Studies – Aerospace Science in 2024.
Growing up, he was initially inspired by local and state heroes like Neil Armstrong, John Glenn, Katherine Johnson, and Chuck Yeager with hopes to follow a similar path. In 2005, he witnessed the launch of STS-114 Discovery, which ultimately fueled him to pursue a career in aerospace. In 2017, he began participating in volunteer outreach efforts through the agency under the Solar System Ambassador program, and later upon arriving at Johnson Space Center supporting local events through NASA Engages, sharing the incredible past, present, and future missions of the American space program.
In early 2023, he also served as GreenHab Officer for Crew 274 at the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah, where he conducted germination studies of space-flown seeds originally aboard NASA’s Long-Duration Exposure Facility (LDEF) that flew in Earth orbit from 1984-1990, maintained the on-site greenhouse, and supported various crewed analog research and scientific studies. Overall, he hopes to continue to further share on the exciting efforts of human space exploration across the country and ultimately inspire both the public and the next generation of STEM professionals.Date:Saturday, July 18, 2026

Lunch and Learn: How the Tonkawa Indians Saw (and See) Round Rock
Source
Allen R Baca Center, 301 W Bagdad Ave., Bldg. 2, Round Rock, Texas, 78664, United States
Guest Speaker: Bob O’Dell, writer/producer of the upcoming documentary film: Tonkawa They All Stay Together
The Tonkawa are the only federally recognized Indigenous tribe that traces its origins to Central Texas. How did the Tonkawa first “see” this land and its earliest founders? And now, two centuries later, how does the tribe see Round Rock today?
Bob O’Dell
Bob O’Dell is a high-tech entrepreneur turned writer and filmmaker who specializes in “bridge-building” stories that connect diverse communities and overlooked histories. His work includes the role of Austin’s Black community in the naming of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Orthodox Jews in Israel, and the history of the Tonkawa Tribe. He is the writer and producer of the feature-length documentary Tonkawa: They All Stay Together. Since 2020, Bob has conducted extensive research into the Texas history of the Tonkawa people and assembled one of the largest private collections of historical sources on the tribe. He holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Sciences from the University of South Florida.

City Council Packet Briefing
Source
City Council Chambers, 221 East Main Street, Round Rock, TX, 78664, United States
The Round Rock City Council meets in a work session at City Hall the second and fourth Tuesday morning of every month – with the exception of November and December, which are moved due to holidays. Packet Briefings allow Council and staff to review agenda items for the following Thursday evening meeting. The time between meetings allows staff to research questions and provide Council with as much information on Thursday as possible. Packet Briefings are open to the public, same as all Council meetings.
