Isolated for Eons: Madagascar’s Strange and Wonderful Wildlife History Presentation!

Eighty million years ago, Madagascar split away from the mainland, forcing nature to take a completely unique path. Join us for a fascinating look at the wildlife history of this isolated island. We will trace the journey of Madagascar’s animals from the age of extinct megafauna down to the modern day. Using clues from DNA research and fossil beds, we will look at how these unique creatures are related to other primates around the globe. Finally, we’ll look at the survival strategies that make these animals so unique, examining the natural history behind how and why female lemurs became the undisputed bosses of the forest. Join us for this presentation presented by SUNY Niagara Faculty member Dr. Nathan Grassi. For adults, registration is required. We thank Dr. Grassi for coming and teaching this presentation at the library!
