Storytime Room

This storytime, geared for the tiniest of library users and their caregivers, is full of stories, bouncing songs, rhymes, and movement to encourage the development of your baby’s pre-literacy skills. Best for children aged 0-18 months, but all are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Small floor cushions and chairs will be provided; feel free to bring your own blankets.

Storytime Room

Be a paleontologist and dig into the past during our Fossil Fest! Dig for dinosaur bones and create dinosaur crafts. Drop in anytime between 2-7.

Community Room

Join Miss Beth in the Storytime Room for nature-themed stories and hands-on gardening activities! All ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Following indoor storytime, class goes outside to do garden activities/nature exploration weather permitting.

Customize your very own pencil pouch with a variety of patches. Best for kids aged K-12th grade. Supplies limited. First come first serve.

Finished a jigsaw puzzle and ready for the next one? Have a puzzle in a box that you no longer love? Please bring your clean, gently used treasures to swap (or give away) in exchange for ones that are new to you. "Honor system" swap (we are not keeping track of what you bring.) Give what you can and take what you love. Puzzles must be new or like-new and come from a smoke-free environment Either tape your boxes closed or keep the pieces in a ziplock bag inside the box No puzzles with missing pieces, please! Participants must be 13 or older, unless accompanied by an adult Event will take place in the Lobby. Please sign-in upon arrival.

Storytime Room

Join Communication Junction for a 30 minute interactive Sign and Sing Story Time designed to engage your child and encourage their love of books. This storytime is geared for children ages 0-5, but all are welcome. Each Sign and Sing Story Time is created around a theme and filled with stories, songs, movement, and bubbles. You will also learn a few signs to take home and practice with your child all month long. Each Sign and Sing Story Time theme lasts for 1-2 sessions. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Face off against your friends in fighting games, form a rock band and become a star, explore a haunted mansion, or put on a virtual reality headset and dance your heart out. During our video game night, we will have a variety of different games that you can play and enjoy, from modern systems to retro ones. So come to the library and grab a controller, whether it's handheld, guitar shaped, or a keyboard! This program is for grades 7th-12th.

Community Room

Connect with other adults who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, including dementia. Each month, we'll explore a different hands-on activity to stimulate interaction and conversation. Librarian led programs are designed to provide additional support where needed.

Storytime Room

Enjoy experiencing sensory play with your little ones as they discover the world through their senses. Stations are designed to stimulate your child's mind through sensory exploration and to help develop gross motor skills. Best for children aged 18 months to 5 years old.

The Lounge

If you have a knack and passion for creative writing, and are looking for a place for peer support, for networking, to share stories and for feedback and encouragement, you will want to join us. The Circle is open to Playwrights and Poets, Bloggers and Freelancers, Children’s authors and Graphic Novelists, Fiction and Nonfiction writers - anyone who enjoys writing in any form. Writing is presented from participants for review and feedback. Meets in the Quiet Reading Room

Community Room

The 13th through 15th centuries AD in what is today Illinois, was a time of change involving population movements, shifting social networks, climate change, and the creation of new communities. The Noble-Wieting cultural site, a six-acre circular village overlooking Kickapoo Creek in McLean County Illinois, was occupied during this period and therefore reveals a great deal about how village inhabitants navigated these changes. This presentation summarizes recent archaeological research at Noble-Wieting including the results of geophysical survey, small-scale excavation, radiocarbon dating, and analysis of material remains to highlight the unique features of this community. Presented by Logan Miller, a Professor of Anthropology at Illinois State University.
