To further the our goal of connecting our community with the resources you need, we offer the services of our Social Work intern (Master of Social Work student) who can assist you with:
Finding community resources and providing agency referral
Completing applications for Social Security, SNAP, Medicaid/Medicare, and other benefit programs
Getting an ID, Birth Certificate, and other vital documents
Please note that the social work intern is not able to provide any clinical services (i.e. therapy). We are able to refer you to a social service agency that can provide clinical support.
There are no residency requirements to meet with the social work intern. All are welcome to drop in! Se habla español. Meetings are on a first come, first serve basis.
Social work services at the library are free of charge. We cannot guarantee that any referral services will also be free of charge. A timely program that highlights American ideals and values featuring significant songs from a wide swath of the collection of vocalist Francine Evans and pianist Joel Zelnik. Come celebrate America with this uplifting show that features music by Irving Berlin, Lee Greenwood, Woody Guthrie, Elton John, the Armed Forces, and more!
All are welcome.
Performer Biographies:
FRANCINE EVANS: Francine Evans is a singer, pianist, guitarist, songwriter and theatrical producer with a lifetime of experience in all styles of music. Having taught herself piano in two hands at the age of 3, Francine has produced over 100 shows. Leonard Bernstein was a fan of her eclectic musical style as was Peter Schikele (PDQ Bach). She has performed with her big band in just about every major hotel ballroom in NYC and has appeared in cabaret clubs and folk venues on both the east and west coasts. She holds an M.A. from Montclair State University, and has performed in New York, Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Japan and Greece.
JOEL ZELNIK: Jazz great Dr. Billy Taylor, was the first to give air play to Joel’s first jazz album, “MOVE”, which was reissued in Japan. A contemporary of Bill Evans, Joel has entertained 5 presidents, is a pianist/bandleader for hundreds of events, and has performed at concert venues in New York, Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Japan and Greece. NYC venues include: Windows On The World and The Rainbow Room. He has recorded four CD’s and holds a B.A. from New Jersey City University and an M.A. from Rutgers University. His latest recording, “Live At Steinway Piano Gallery” was released in Japan and the U.S. Joel also served as a Councilman in Closter, NJ and as the Library Liaison, helped to include a concert/meeting room during the library renovation, and also assisted in establishing the Closter Hall of Fame, which is on permanent display at the Closter Public Library. He served on the Closter Historic Preservation Commission which has taken his original proposal to save one of the few surviving Lustron Homes in the U.S. into a living museum highlighting mid 20 th Century America. Joel is also a substitute teacher in the South Orangetown NY Central School District.

Project Healthy Bones

Project Healthy Bones is a 24-week exercise and education program for older women and men at risk for, or who have, osteoporosis. The program includes exercises that target the body’s larger muscle groups to improve strength, balance, and flexibility. The 24-week curriculum also features sessions on the importance of exercise, nutrition, safety, and drug therapy. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring water.
For adults. Registration is required on our online calendar; you must also complete the attached waiver forms before the start of the program. For more information, a brochure is also available in the attached documents.
