Chess camp is back this summer! The Friends of the Millburn Library are sponsoring 3 week-long sessions of chess camp at the library, run by chess master Scott Massey. Camp will take place in the Teen Area. Registration required to attend. Week 1, July 6 – 10 Week 2, July 13 – 17 Week 3, July 20 – 24 Monday – Friday, 9:30am – 12:30pm (register for 1 or more weeks) The cost is $250/week and one can register for 1, 2 or all 3 weeks. In-person event held at the library for children ages 2 to 3 with a caregiver. Join the Children's librarian team for our summer toddler-aged story time session! We will have lots of funny stories, plenty of silly songs, flannel and magnet board stories, plus movement and fingerplays! Registering for the entire 5-week session is required; we appreciate trying to attend as many classes as you can! Register each child who will be attending (adults and baby siblings accompanying the children do not have to register). Storytime will take place in the auditorium. Program runs about 30 minutes.

WILLIAMSBURG ROOM

Get together with other English Language Learners for refreshments and conversation. All levels of English fluency are welcome. Meetups will be on the 2nd Thursday of each month. Registration required.

The prehistoric world comes to life with Dinos Arise! Unearth fossils and explore hands-on activities that spark curiosity. Interact with our astonishingly realistic dinosaur costumes and playful baby dinosaur puppets. There will be a ginormous T. Rex puppet outside the library as part of the event, weather permitting. Recommended for ages 4-12. Registration required.

Join us for a bilingual storytime with preschool teacher Xiaoning Qiao, incorporating Mandarin and English with books, songs, and fingerplays. Program is geared for children ages 1-5. Please only register the children who will attend. Parents and caregivers must attend, but should not register for the event. Program will take place in the auditorium. Registration is required.

It's time for chess! Children are welcomed to come to the library to learn and play chess with chess master Scott Massey. Beginning players to advanced are welcomed. No registration is needed, just drop-in. Chess is sponsored by the Friends of the Millburn Library. Each class is $20, for fundraising for the Friends. Come prepared to tell us what you’re reading, what it’s about, and why you love (or don’t love) it. Stop by the Library art gallery for some 1-on-1 tech assistance! We can help with any of your basic needs, like using a new smartphone, downloading library ebooks, setting up a social media account, and more. A teen technology volunteer will be helping Librarian Mae at the desk at certain hours.

Come relax on your summer break and watch a movie on our big screen! Today we will be playing Zootopia 2. Running time is approximately one hour and 45 minutes. Movie will take place upstairs in our auditorium and starts at 3:30. Children 8 and under must have a caregiver stay with them for the entire length of the movie. Feel free to bring your own snacks! No registration required.
