Open to all ages. No registration needed. Join Fireman Dan, from the Mentor Fire Department, as he reads some fire related stories and offers tips on staying safe. Receive a raffle ticket for each time you attend for a chance to win pizza lunch with some firemen in December, 2026.

Open to all ages with a caregiver. Junior ranger activities are aimed at ages 4 and older. Junior Ranger Story Time; a special summer story time. We will meet promptly at the entrance to the library at 10:00 AM. Then we will walk together to the James A. Garfield National Historic Site for a special story time. Each week the story time will be themed to accompany Junior Ranger activities, which encourage kids to care for and learn more about the National Parks. Bring along a blanket to sit on. After story time we will walk back to the library together.

Join us for an interactive story time with music, singing stories, and rhymes. For children 5 and under. All children must be accompanied by an adult. No registration required.

Registration is required and begins June 25. Join us for a cooking demonstration featuring plant-based recipes with LaDonna from "Let's Cook!" mobile cooking school. For July, LaDonna will be making CASHEW TOFU LETTUCE WRAPS. Space is limited. Registration is required. Due to demand, limited seating, and cost of supplies, anyone who signs up for and misses TWO programs without giving at least 24 hours’ notice may be placed on the waitlist for the next program they register for. Bring in your little one to explore their creativity! We'll provide the paper, paint and aprons - you provide the fun! Perfect for Pre-K! Registration is not required, but space is limited inside the branch so there may be wait times. This activity is self-directed with limited interaction with staff.

REGISTRATION BEGINS... JUNE 27. Let's Get Potted! Native plants support biodiversity, provide beauty, help birds by supporting caterpillars, and help balance habitat loss. Native plants are the way to go, and they grow in containers as well as in the ground. Learn about the benefits of native plants and best practices for growing in containers. Registration is required and begins June 27. Presented by Master Gardener Volunteers of Lake County.
