Kids 6 to 11 years old can experience Alabama’s wildlife with the Alabama 4-H Science School. Raptor Trek will get us up close with the likes of majestic hawks and owls to learn about bird biology and rescue stories. Herp Journey focuses on turtles, snakes, and alligators and teaches the importance of reptile conservation. The interactive session brings animal ambassadors to the library. All kids must be with an adult.

Get ready to travel back in time! Join us for a hands-on prehistoric adventure designed for curious explorers ages 5 to 12. We’ll start by investigating real fossils from the collection of the Alabama Department of Archives and History and diving into a reading of Fossils Tell Stories by Yu-ri Kim. Young paleontologists will then team up for an interactive artifact-sorting challenge. Finally, everyone will build their own shaker screen craft—a must-have tool for sifting through soil to uncover hidden treasures.
