Calling all game developers and gamers of the Cannon Valley area!
This is a club to get us all together to talk about video game dev and gaming with the goals of getting to know each other and collaborating on our projects.
We'll talk about best practices and techniques, show off our projects, and if anyone's ready, set up for playtesting.
Come join us as we share our passion for making and playing video games!
Bringing your own laptop is encouraged but not required. However, computers will not be provided.
This club is geared toward aspiring game developers, hobbyists, and pros of most ages - it will only be interesting for those who have a strong passion for game development and likely won't entertain most under the age of 13.
The Gamers and Devs Club of Cannon Valley meets every other Saturday at noon with holiday-related exceptions.

Dale Alexander is a Minneapolis-born drummer, pianist, songwriter, and music director with a remarkable career spanning jazz, funk, soul, and pop. As a young musician, he played with Prince and André Cymone and later toured as drummer for Madhouse, the opening act on Prince’s Sign o’ the Times world tour. Over the years, he has performed and recorded with artists including George Benson, Sheila E., The Temptations, Jimmy Smith, and Robbie Krieger of The Doors. He has also worked as a music director for major productions, including American Idol on Tour, and earned Grammy recognition for his songwriting. Now back in Minneapolis, Alexander continues to perform, write, and share his experience with the next generation of musicians.

Join Clean River Partners and Northfield Public Library for a bilingual Spanish/English storytime all about water conservation!
Together, we'll read a story about water, sing some songs, make water-themed art, and learn about ways we can protect this precious resource at home. Storytime is geared towards children ages 2-5, accompanied by an actively participating adult caregiver, but all are welcome.

Drop in most Tuesdays for a casual afternoon of teen activities! Each week we'll have a different activity.
This week we'll chat about the book of the month, Grenade by Alan Gratz. We'll also pass out copies of the August book club book and choose books to read for upcoming months. After book club, we'll have the monthly Teen Advisory Board (TAB) meeting. If you'd like to help plan events, suggest YA titles for our collection, and promote library awareness, joining TAB may be for you!
***Book club will be held in the teen space, and for the TAB meeting we will walk over to the Blast for a frozen treat (paid for by the Friends of the Library).***

The beauty of nature surrounds us every day, but much of it we fail to notice and, in fact, are unable even to see: the beauty of the world of insects. Through his macro photographs, Gerry will introduce us to the amazing beauty and intricate design of insects, as well as to consider the threats to them and why we should care.
Gerald Hoekstra is a resident of Northfield. Before retiring to a life of birding and photography, he was Professor of Music at St. Olaf College. As a photographer, he focuses primarily on wildlife, especially birds and insects, but also photographs landscapes and architecture. Hoekstra has birded and photographed wildlife internationally, as well as throughout the U.S. and Canada. His photographs appear in a number of publications and can often be seen on the home page of the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union (moumn.org).
