Ages 2-18. Stop in anytime on Mondays and build something fun with our LEGOs! We have thousands of bricks for you to build with at your leisure. The finished structures stay at the library for a few days so everyone can see what you came up with. Then they're taken apart so the bricks can be used the following week. Take pictures so you can keep a personal journal of your creativity. We may add a theme where we ask you to create something special while you are here! Free. No registration. Drop-in program.

Summer Science Corps with SUNY ESF

For children who have completed Grades 3-8. Join SUNY ESF Summer Science Corps for a free, fun-filled week of nature exploration and career discovery! ESF students will lead participants through a weeklong curriculum exploring local green spaces, college and career pathways in environmental fields, and a wide variety of STEM activities. Whether you love bugs, plants, or splashing around a good old mud puddle, this is the program for you! Participants having just completed grades 3-8 are welcome to join us. When you register, you are signing up for the entire week. Programming will run from Maxwell Memorial Library daily, July 13 - July 17, 10am-2pm. Please bring your own lunch. Please note that Thursday's event will be at the Camillus Erie Canal Park on Devoe Road, and Friday's event will be on the ESF Campus; parents/guardians are responsible for your child's transportation. The library does not provide transportation. Registration required. Register each person individually.

Unraveling Yarns Mystery Book Club

Bring your needlework or other small craft and unravel a different plot each month at our book club focusing on mysteries and thrillers. Unraveling Yarns usually meets the second Monday of the month at 5:00 PM, and is for adults 18 and older. Copies of the book for you to check out on your library account are available at Maxwell’s front desk one month before the meeting. Some titles may also be available through Libby or Hoopla, or as audiobooks. Newcomers and non-crafters welcome! Free. Registration is preferred. New members are always welcome.

For children ages 3 to 10. Come to Maxwell anytime on Tuesdays for this drop-in, in-person craft time. Make the planned craft or one of your own choosing. All supplies are provided for the in-person craft time. You may still register for a grab-and-go kit if you prefer making your craft at home. There are extra grab-and-go kits at the front desk available the rest of the week, while supplies last. The take-home kits include all of the supplies you will need to do the craft except glue, scissors, and coloring supplies. Free. No registration for the in-person craft. Register only for the grab-and-go kit.

Bottle and Can Drive

Today's the day to get rid of all those empties from your early summer celebrations! This year, we ask you to bring your beverage bottles and cans directly to the Central City Bottle and Can Retrieval Center on Saturday, July 18, between 9am and 4pm. The Bottle and Can Retrieval Center, located in Fairmount at 224 Chapel Drive, will have a big trailer in its parking lot on Chapel Drive, just for Maxwell's returns. The proceeds will support Maxwell Memorial Library. Can't make it today? The Library has an account set up at the Fairmount bottle return center, so you can drop your empties off year-round and have them earmarked for Maxwell. Thank you for your support!

The Greater Camillus Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Family Fun Day right next door to Maxwell Library in Munro Park. Look for Maxwell's table and join us for crafts and more! Come out and enjoy a day of family fun, food, and entertainment—absolutely free to attend. The Fire Department will be firing up the grill and offering a delicious meal for sale, including hot dogs, hamburgers, salt potatoes, beans, and a fresh salad. Mah Jongg Open Play

Have you and your friends been looking for a space to practice your Mah Jongg skills? Then come to Maxwell with your group during our Open Play sessions. Our Community Room is available the first two Mondays of the month from 11am to 1pm. We have a few Mah Jongg sets available for you to use, but bring your own set if you can. As space is limited, please register. Sign up each person individually. If you don't have a foursome, come anyway to see if you can join another group. This is not a class, although we hope that more seasoned players will be willing to provide some guidance to newer players. Most players follow the National Mah Jongg League rules. If you need a 2026 rules card, you can order one yourself on the National Mah Jongg League website.
