Led by Erin from Sadowski Stitches, you will learn embroidery basics, including 5 basic stitches, to create a magical, book-themed embroidery hoop. Everything you need to create the hoop will be supplied.

This summer, we’re doing book club differently...Join us for a limited-run series where we dig into one of the most talked-about—and debated—novels of 2026: Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke. Love it? Hate it? Still deciding? You’re exactly who we want in the room.
Over the summer, we’ll go beyond the page with flexible book club meetings exploring the book’s biggest questions, boldest choices, and the conversations it’s sparked across media. We’ll dig into themes, reactions, and outside perspectives—from articles to interviews—to explore this multifaceted novel.
Come to one session or all. No lectures, no homework—just thoughtful discussion, hot takes, and a chance to connect with other readers. Bring an open mind and a willingness to be challenged!
Whether you’re a regular reader or haven’t joined a book discussion in years, this is your invitation to try something new.

This week we will be learning about A.I. [Artificial Intelligence]. We'll talk about how to identify AI-generated materials, and different AI tools you can utilize. A device is not required for this session, but you can bring one if you wish to scroll along.
Led by our adult services librarian, this Tech 101 series will offer a variety of topics from how to use library databases, the basics of how to use a computer, how to operate an smart phone or tablet, and more. Each session will offer a different topic, and if you have any topics you're particularly interested in, be sure to put in a request!

Nova is a therapy dog from the North Syracuse Police Department. He is a labradoodle and joined the police department to assist with the overall mental health and wellness of the community as well as the police officers.

Mindfulness for Neurodivergents: Mindful health for every brain

Mindfulness is often portrayed as creating calm, stillness, and a quiet mind. But for many, especially those with neurodivergent brains or lived trauma, this can feel frustrating and counterproductive.
The truth is, mindfulness isn't one-size-fits-all.
In this class, experience guided meditation, focused attention, and mindful movement practices to sample a buffet of practice to promote present moment awareness.
Chairs are provided, but bring a mat if you prefer to sit on the floor. All are welcome -- you don't need to identify as neurodivergent to attend!

Find your purrrrfect match at the library with this cat adoption event! CNY Cat Coalition will be bringing furry friends to NOPL that are up for adoption. You may pick a story to read to them or just socialize with the animals. Volunteers from the Cat Coalition will be there to answer any questions, and information will be available for anyone who’s interested in volunteering, adoption, fostering, donating, etc.
