Best for ages 8 Our program has successfully guided beginners to higher levels of strategic gameplay. Now it's time to take it up a notch! This program will include play with Pokémon Battle Academy, where they learn core game mechanics such as turn structure, card strategy, reading comprehension, math skills, and critical thinking. The board game format allows players to develop confidence in a hands-on, social environment while practicing decision-making and sportsmanship. As students build mastery, they transition to Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu!/Eevee! on the Nintendo Switch. In this phase, participants apply strategic thinking to team building, type matchups, resource management, and long-term planning. The video game component reinforces reading skills, problem-solving, and adaptive strategy while encouraging collaboration and peer mentoring. Through this scaffolded approach, players will progress into more advanced players who can: Build strategic decks and competitive teams Analyze strengths and weaknesses Think critically under pressure Demonstrate improved reading and math fluency Practice teamwork and respectful competition The program not only increases gaming proficiency but also strengthens literacy, STEM-related skills, and social-emotional development. By combining tabletop and digital formats, the library creates an inclusive learning environment where play becomes a powerful tool for growth.
