Drop into the YA Room any time to pick up Take and Make Craft kits. Teens can complete them at the library or take them home. Crafts are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Welcome to our yearlong series in which “America’s Preeminent Presidential Doodler”, Heather Rogers, shares facts, factoids, and fun illustrations about the presidents of these United States. An enthralling and bittersweet treat about a mysterious woman who opens a sweets shop in a French town in the late 1950s. Join us for a new book club focused on novellas and other short reads! We will have big discussions about small books! This month we're reading Convenience Store Woman by Murata Sayaka: The English-language debut of one of Japan's most talented contemporary writers, selling over 650,000 copies there, Convenience Store Woman is the heartwarming and surprising story of thirty-six-year-old Tokyo resident Keiko Furukura. You know them as the Two Nerdy History Girls - authors Loretta Chase and Susan Holloway Scott were the originators of the infamous blog. And, this time, they are focusing on the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. They are so knowledgeable about the everyday lives of people who lived through this era as well as how war could upend those lives. We know that we'll have a great conversation and learn so much about how this historic happening affected every aspect of people's lives. We have Loretta and Susan here to answer all of our burning questions about the 250th. How do they do their research, how much of it comes out of their visits to Colonial Williamsburg, and how do they incorporate their knowledge into their writing? Junk journaling is a fun and sustainable way of scrapbooking/journaling. It challenges you to take inspiration from the "junk" around you and to reduce waste! Materials will be provided, but please bring any "junk" or other scrapbooking-type supplies that you already have and may want to use.
