Storytimes near Chester Public Library

Create dazzling fireworks artwork using salt and acrylic techniques as we continue celebrating the 250th birthday of the United States. This colorful, hands-on art activity is designed for kids, but participants of all ages are invited to join the fun. No registration required, but is always appreciated.

Help us transform an ordinary cardboard box into an extraordinary reading nook for the children’s library! Participants are invited to lend their creativity by helping decorate and personalize our new cozy reading space with colors, designs, and imaginative touches. This upcycling project gives new life to a simple box while creating a fun place for young readers to enjoy books. All ages are welcome to stop by and contribute to this community creation.

Discover the tiny world of microorganisms through a sweet and creative STEM activity at the library! Participants will use gelatin-filled petri dishes and candy pieces to design and model different types of microbes while learning about the important roles microorganisms play in our world. Turn your favorite stories into works of art! Participants are invited to paint a ceiling tile inspired by a beloved book. Create a design based on a book cover, favorite character, memorable scene, or any other element that sparks your imagination. Finished tiles will become part of a colorful display in the library, celebrating the stories and creativity that bring our community together. Registration required. Learn how to weave a tissue topper basket, taught by Laura Klaus. All sizes are approximate and are measured to the top of the basket, not to the top of the handle. There is a minimum age of 15. Registration closes 1 week prior to class so that we have time to prepare the materials. Tissue Topper, $45, diameter 8″ 6″ tall, holds a square box of tissues.
