Adults are invited to join Children’s Librarian Christy Munier for a monthly gathering honoring the brilliance of picture books and picture book art.
Together, participants will thoughtfully analyze and discuss a select picture book.
This gathering will focus on The Invisible Bear by Cecile Metzger,
Copies of the book will be made available to participants at the gathering.

Letter Writing Club

Join The Letter Writing Club and pledge to write one letter each month for the entire year.
Club members are encouraged to gather at Sturgis Library once a month where stationery, art supplies, a letter prompt, and a sense of connection will be provided.
If gathering in person is not possible, letter prompts can be emailed to club members.

Author Talk with William Powers

Join bestselling author William Powers as he discusses his book, Ripple.
Ripple: An Intimate Exchange of Urgency and Hope Between An Ecologist Dad and His Daughter. Ripple is a narrative of letters from an ecologist dad to his daughter upon her coming-of age. Drawing upon personal history, family anecdotes, and shared memories, Powers and his daughter together envision a path for humanity’s reintegration with nature, and a chance to sustain the life force that runs through all of us.
William Powers is an author, activist, and leading expert in deep ecology. He is a Senior Fellow at World Policy Institute, and he founded the Living Well Collaborative, supporting a new paradigm for healing the planet and nourishing community and economy at the local level. Powers has published five nonfiction books within the sustainability space, including DISPATCHES FROM THE SWEET LIFE (New World Library, 2018) and TWELVE BY TWELVE (New World Library, 2010), and his essays and commentaries on global issues have appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Atlantic, and on National Public Radio’s “Fresh Air.”
