Music Performance with the “All Worn Out” Jug Band
Thursday, July 9 at 4:00 PMCommunity Rooms ABC
Join us for an evening of music and dancing with Cape Cod’s All Worn Out Jug Band!
The band — whose current lineup includes Gregory Baird, Kevin Howard, Mary Loebig, Mark van Bork, and Edmund Robinson — bring a decidedly animated stage presence to performances that can have audiences dancing in the aisles by the encore.
Light refreshments will be served.
Click here to RSVP for this performance!
About the performers:
There is something unique about Cape Cod’s All Worn Out Jug Band. In addition to being part of the “Post-Modern” Jug Band Movement, this group performs eclectic sets that include Jug Band classics interwoven with American roots music from traditional folk to Cajun, country, and gospel. As with many accomplished Jug Bands, you can expect to hear a washtub or doghouse bass, washboard, kazoos, whistles, and of course, a jug — a full complement of strings including guitar, mandolin, ukulele, fiddle, banjo, and an occasional concertina.
Their 2008 CD’s songs have been played on WUMB (Boston), they’ve played live on WOMR (Provincetown), and, true to their Chatham roots, they have been a staple of that town’s First Night festivities for many years.

Opera, War, and the Human Spirit: Finding Beauty in Enemy TerritoryLocal Author Talk with Janis Robinson Daly
Monday, July 20 at 2:00 PMIn-person in Community Rooms AB
Join us for an engaging talk with Cape Cod, award-winning historical fiction author Janis Robinson Daly as she shares her inspiration and research which led to writing her latest historical novel Under Two Flags.
Drawing upon the memoir of eighteen-year-old Josephine Therese Marzynski, a Boston opera student trapped in Berlin during World War I, Daly explores how Josephine’s passion for music drives her strength to endure even in humanity’s darkest hours.
Copies of Janis’s books will be available for sale and signing after the presentation.
Click here to RSVP for this local author talk!
About the Author:
Inspired by the discovery that an ancestor founded the Woman’s Medical College of PA, Daly’s first two award-winning books celebrate the work of pioneering women in medicine. Her third book, Under Two Flags, honors the story of another woman whose life remained in the shadows of history. Under Two Flags, a retelling of Josephine Marzynski’s memoir from her time in Berlin during World War I, was originally ghostwritten by Daly’s grandfather, Eliot H. Robinson, Sr.
