Teens ages 12-18 are invited to the library’s fifth annual Summer Reading Bingo program on Friday, July 10th from 3:00-4:30PM. Teens will play bingo for the chance to win big prizes like gift cards, signed books and swag, puzzles, and more! All attendees will earn a raffle ticket for the Teen Summer Reading Program. Teens can sign up for the program at the library or by emailing clapplibrarytab@gmail.com. Teens must be registered for the Teen Summer Reading Program to attend. This program is funded by the Friends of the Clapp Memorial Library.

Join us to investigate fascinating creatures and critters in Lake Wallace. Local biologists/parents, Caralyn Zehnder and Will Duncan, will show us the life cycles of aquatic invertebrates like dragonflies and damselflies and sample the lake to see what we can find. Lake Wallace is located behind the police station next to Foley Field. Play clothes, rain or water boots, and bug spray are suggested.

Join us for Magic the Gathering in the Activity Room. Bring your own deck or use one of our learning decks. Everyone is welcome, however players must be fluent readers. Players under the age of 10 must have a caregiver who is at least 14 years old on the Library premises. Join us for every session or just one – it’s up to you!

Sweet Seeds of Summer Drawing Series

Come explore using the basic elements of art (with a focus on line, shape, value) to learn to draw some summer fruits and their seeds! Each class is seeded with sketching, story, and the juicy goodness of summer fruits. We will slurp up some tasty stories as we read a book that celebrates each fruit we draw.
These are introductory, instructional drawing classes for kids 7 to 11 to be held in the Clapp Memorial Library’s Activity Room. During the class, we will work out our drawing muscles and draw the fruit from what we know. Then learn to draw what we see. Completed artwork from the first two classes will be put on display at the Library during the month of August.

At this beginner class, participants will make two blank journals with pockets in the back. Materials, tools, and instruction will be provided.

Talking Hands Theatre, a woman-owned puppet company based in Shutesbury, brings you this musical tabletop show featuring brightly colored dinosaurs. Meet different kinds of dinosaurs from the Jurassic Era, and find out what the dinosaurs plan to do about that big carnivore, Allosaurus, who is pushing everyone around!
No registration required. Children should be registered for Plant A Seed, Read! This event will take place on the Library lawn. Bring chairs, blankets, water, and bug spray. In case of rain, it will be moved to the Town Hall Auditorium.
