R.U.F.F. – Reading Uniquely for Fundamentals Wednesday, June 9th, 2026 @ 5:30 p.m. Children aged 5 or older, who are reading independently, are welcome to participate in a unique literacy program designed to help your child gain reading confidence! Each participant must choose a book at the library or bring one from home. It is helpful if they have read the book previously but is not necessary. Your child will be registered for a 15-minute reading time, with a few minutes to get settled and then approximately 10 minutes of reading. Times are reserved on a first-come / first-served basis. 5:30 – 5:45 p.m. 5:45 – 6:00 p.m. 6:00 – 6:15 p.m. 6:15 – 6:30 p.m. 6:30 – 6:45 p.m. 6:45 – 7:00 p.m. Registration is required by stopping by or calling the Children’s Services desk – 973-728-2823.

Let’s create some DIY origami art or bring a pre-made sample home, or color one of the Independence Day coloring pages inspired the 250th birthday of the USA, or solve our word search puzzle inspired by our Summer Reading Club theme, Unearth a Story! Share a picture of your Teen Station creations on Instagram or Facebook and tag us at @wmtl_library or #wmtl_library! For teens (grades 6-12). No registration is required.

We invite all of those interested in needle arts to attend for a friendly community meeting to work on projects, be a mentor, or just to have fun! We welcome all levels, including beginners, to join us on Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m. with your knitting, crocheting, or needlepoint supplies! Didgeridoo Down Under! Wednesday, July 15 @ 2:00 p.m. | Families welcome!  The Didgeridoo Down Under Show is an energetic fusion of Australian music, comedy, character building, storytelling and audience movement / participation. The didgeridoo has been played by Aboriginal Australians for at least 1500 years, and is known for its otherworldly sound. We’ll explore the Outback and the Great Barrier Reef, we’ll unearth Aboriginal artwork and artifacts, we’ll learn about amazing creatures like kangaroos and koalas, and much more, all while moving and grooving to the pulsing rhythms of the didge and worldly percussion instruments. It’s interactive, educational, motivational and super fun for all ages! Registration required. Families welcome.

Sunshine Talks on Health and Longevity Saturday, July 18th – 2:00-3:00 p.m. 2nd Floor – Room 1&2 John Malatras leads a discussion on how we can better manage our own health, from microbiome to muscle building, using ways nature has always provided. Topics will include but are not limited to the following: Strength and Healthy Aging Exercise Diet and Nutrition Breathing Techniques Cold and Hot Water Therapy Mind/Body Connection  Join John and a gathering of other like-minded individuals for a relaxed and friendly discussion, in a supportive environment. John Malatras is an herbalist who has been working in the Naturopathic field for over 40 years. He received his diploma from The British Institute of Herbology and Homeopathy in 2001, and has numerous degrees from Arizona University Integrative Medicine. The Sunshine series is dedicated to Sally Malatras, his eternal Sunshine. This series does not claim to offer medical advice. Consult a licensed doctor for medical issues. Saturday 7/18 – 3:00-4:00 p.m. 2nd Flr. Rm 6&7 Join certified sound facilitator Donna Jean Neill for an hour of relaxation! Ms. Neill will use singing bowls and an assortment of other instruments to provide a meditative experience where people are “bathed” in sound waves. The sounds will produce a harmonious and calming influence on the listeners. All participants need to bring an exercise/yoga mat, a small pillow, and a blanket. Comfortable clothing is recommended.  Registration is required for this event. *Please note* registration will open for West Milford residents on June 29th @ 10:00 a.m. You must have a valid West Milford Township Library card to register.
